Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System(NAS) through the FAA’s Business, National Airspace, and Technical Computing Services (BNATCS)contract. Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a Software Developer SME to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support technical design, conduct design reviews, and ensure application requirements and standards are met. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence. Whether you’re supporting safety validation efforts or leading teams on major FAA programs, your work will directly impact the millions of passengers and aviation professionals who rely on safe, efficient airspace operations every day.

Work Location:

On-site at the Tech Center near Egg HarborTownship, NJ

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you will design, build, and evolve complex software solutions that support the safety, reliability, and modernization of the National Airspace System. You will influence architectural decisions, guide development standards, and mentor engineering teams delivering high-impact solutions.

Lead technical design and architecture efforts for complex, enterprise-grade software systems.
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure alignment with performance, security, scalability, and maintainability standards.
Translate business and technical requirements into secure, resilient, and scalable solutions.
Develop and enhance applications using Angular (front-end) and Java Spring Boot (middle-tier APIs).
Build and maintain RESTful APIs, services, controllers, and repositories within the Spring Boot framework.
Collaborate with technical customers, project managers, QA engineers, and fellow developers to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
Identify and implement opportunities to optimize performance, improve user experience, and reduce technical debt.
Mentor junior developers and promote engineering excellence across the team.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Provide leadership, delegation, and oversight to ensure collaborative and high-quality delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship Required.
Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of software development experience or Associate’s degree and 14 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
Proven experience in software development including front-end Angular web development and iddle-tier Java Spring Boot API development.
Experience with Spring Boot framework, including RESTful APIs, controllers, services, and repositories.
Experience with Angular, including components, services, pipes, and routing.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
Experience with FAA systems, federal modernization efforts, or mission-critical software developement environments.
Knowledge of TypeScript and its benefits for large-scale applications.
Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+) for front-end development.
Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mocha, and Jasmine.
Familiarity with containerization using Docker or Kubernetes.
Understanding of DevOps principles and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

DETAILS

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
