As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Strategist to become a key contributor to our tax advisory team.

Position Overview

The Senior Tax Strategist serves as the technical engine behind our tax advisory practice. This role is responsible for developing tax plans, identifying planning opportunities, reviewing tax returns, analyzing financial data, and supporting the implementation of tax strategies for business owners and high-net-worth clients.

Unlike traditional advisory roles, this position is primarily focused on technical tax execution rather than ongoing client relationship management. The Senior Tax Strategist works closely with the Tax Manager and advisory team to ensure strategies are accurate, actionable, and successfully implemented.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax problems, developing proactive strategies, mentoring staff, and improving processes.

Responsibilities:

As our new Senior Tax Strategist, you’ll report directly to the Tax Manager and play a key role in the technical delivery of our tax advisory services by:

Developing and modeling proactive tax strategies for business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
Preparing complex business and individual tax returns (1065, 1120-S, 1120, and 1040).
Reviewing business and individual tax returns (1065, 1120-S, 1120, and 1040) for technical accuracy, tax savings opportunities, and consistency with planning recommendations.
Preparing tax projections, entity analyses, and planning calculations that support client advisory engagements.
Conducting tax research and evaluating complex tax issues involving entity structure, compensation planning, retirement strategies, real estate investments, and other advanced planning opportunities.
Supporting the implementation of approved tax strategies and monitoring results throughout the year.
Collaborating with Tax Associates and Bookkeepers to ensure accurate financial information is available for tax planning and compliance.
Training and mentoring junior team members on technical tax matters, review procedures, and firm processes.
Assisting with quality control and ensuring deliverables meet firm standards.
Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes, workflows, and operational efficiency.
Assisting with complex tax situations and technical problem-solving as needed.

Please Note: While occasional client interaction may be required, this role is not responsible for managing ongoing client relationships or serving as the primary client contact.

Qualifications

Required

Active CPA or EA designation.
3–5+ years of experience in public accounting, tax planning, tax consulting, or tax compliance.
Strong experience preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns.
Working knowledge of tax planning strategies for entrepreneurial businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
Experience with tax research and technical issue resolution.
Proficiency with:
QuickBooks Online
ProSeries
Corvee
Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs)

Preferred

Experience reviewing the work of junior staff.
Experience developing tax projections and advisory deliverables.
Familiarity with process improvement and workflow management.
Experience working with S-Corporations, Partnerships, real estate investors, and closely held businesses.
