Construction Manager

Pangea Design Build LLC is a regenerative design-build firm based in Taos, New Mexico, specializing in sustainable construction, natural building systems, off-grid infrastructure, and ecological architecture. Position Overview

Pangea is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the successful execution of our construction projects. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction operations, managing field teams and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and ecological stewardship. Working closely with company leadership, architects, clients, and trade partners, the Construction Manager will help strengthen projects, systems, processes, and coordination that support Pangea's continued growth while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We're looking for a collaborative, solutions-oriented leader who communicates with integrity, leads by example, and thrives in a hands-on environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, adaptable, and committed to building exceptional projects, cultivating strong relationships, and advancing Pangea's mission of regenerative design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Operations

Lead and oversee active construction projects from pre-construction through completion.
Supervise field operations, subcontractors, and crews.
Ensure work complies with plans, specifications, contracts, building codes, permits, and company standards.
Resolve field issues and maintain project momentum through proactive planning and communication.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, safety, productivity, and progress.

Project Planning & Coordination

Develop and maintain project schedules and construction sequencing.
Coordinate subcontractors, labor, equipment, inspections, and material deliveries.
Collaborate with the design team on constructability and project phasing.
Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, photographs, and progress updates.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Promote a culture of safety and accountability.
Ensure OSHA compliance and safe jobsite practices.
Coordinate inspections and maintain permit compliance.
Verify that work meets quality standards before project milestones and inspections.

Financial & Materials Management

Monitor project budgets, labor, materials, and overall project costs.
Support estimating, forecasting, job costing, purchase orders, and change orders.
Manage procurement of materials and equipment while maintaining vendor relationships.
Oversee company tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and accountability.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and support staff and construction crew.
Assist with hiring and onboarding crew, and subcontractor selection.
Foster a collaborative culture built on professionalism, craftsmanship, communication, and continuous improvement.
Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and trade partners.

Qualifications

Required

7+ years of progressive construction experience, including project and field leadership.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, sequencing, and construction documents.
Experience managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and multiple trades.
Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proactive, self-motivated, and highly accountable.
Valid driver's license with clean record
Ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.

Preferred

Strong interest in sustainable or natural building systems; such as passive solar design, off-grid systems, or alternative construction methods.
OSHA training or certification.
New Mexico General Contractor's License or equivalent experience.
Experience with construction management and accounting software.
Spanish language proficiency preffered.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary range $50 to $70/hour, commensurate with experience.
