Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and HR Coordinator for school and parishes to manage financial records, oversee payroll, and support human resources functions. This vital role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and smooth HR operations across multiple educational and religious institutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, proficiency with various financial software, and a passion for supporting community-focused organizations. Responsibilities

Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
Process payroll efficiently, ensuring timely payments and compliance with applicable laws.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, bill payments, and collections.
Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure financial accuracy.
Record journal entries, perform general ledger accounting, and ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Reconcile accounts regularly through detailed account analysis and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and other documentation necessary for internal review or external audits.
Support HR functions by maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding processes, and managing payroll processing tasks.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies across all financial activities.
Assist in the development of internal controls to safeguard assets and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within non-profit or educational organizations.
Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems.
Knowledge of corporate accounting principles, GAAP standards, and financial software integration.
Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation.
Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing.
Ability to perform 10-key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and performing account reconciliations.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with staff members across schools and parishes effectively.
