SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for setting up and running complex machining operations to custom size coil, plate and rod alloys for fulfillment of customer orders. Machining operations include slitting, cut to length, shearing, waterjet and saw.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Utilizes various types of manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop equipment to perform machining operations on various forms of ferous and nonferous metals, and their alloys.
- Sets up and operates loop slitting line equipment to slit master coils into customer-specified widths and quantities.
- Reviews customer orders, production schedules, coil specifications, and work instructions prior to operation.
- Verifies incoming material specifications including alloy, gauge, width, surface condition, and coil identification.
- Performs slitter head setup including knife, spacer, rubber stripper, and arbor configuration based on slitting patterns and tolerances.
- Monitors line operation to ensure proper strip tracking, tension control, edge quality, and coil rewinding.
- Inspects slit material throughout production using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Maintains dimensional tolerances and quality standards according to customer requirements.
- Identifies and corrects issues such as camber, burrs, edge wave, scratches, telescoping, or coil damage.
· Works from and in accordance with specifications including but not limited to verbal instructions, customer order specifications, and drawings; performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining.
· Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments; maintains accurate dimensional tolerances, based on order specifications.
· Selects the appropriate cutting tools to maximize efficiency and ensure quality of product.
· Reworks and calibrates production parts and machine tooling as required; checks each component for accuracy.
· Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry, machinery, and techniques.
· Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all applicable safety regulations and considerations.
· Provides all required reporting (ticket information).
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
· Operates forklift to move and store material
· Fulfills orders, completes inventory adjustments, and bin transfers within Netsuite

- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills required:
o Basic Outlook (e-mail)
o Mobile ADP App for Time and Attendance and PTO requests
o NetSuite Data Entry or Bar Code Scanning
o Machinery Programming
o Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
o Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail.
o Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
o Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.
o Knowledge of metal properties and other material.
