Job Title: Bilingual STEAM Educator
Position Overview:
The Salvadori Center ~ a leading educational non-profit in the New York City region and Pennsylvania ~ is seeking a dynamic leader for the role of STEAM Educator. The STEAM Educator role will report directly to a STEAM Program Manager and will teach STEAM education to students in grades PreK-12 in New York City.
For nearly 50 years, Salvadori has provided students opportunities to see and understand how science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, and math (STEAM) are all around them. Students work collaboratively and use a project-based approach that is tied to the built environment (buildings, bridges, parks, communities, etc.). We offer a variety of multi-day in-school, after-school, and summer programs that enable every student to succeed, as well as professional development workshops that give teachers a strong foundation in project-based learning.
As a STEAM Educator, you will play an integral part in ensuring the continued success of Salvadori’s mission. A Salvadori STEAM Educator should have a strong interest in teaching collaborative project-based lessons through push-in programs within the NYC public schools and after-school programs across the five boroughs.
Job Description:
Teaching Salvadori’s hands-on, project-based STEAM programs to students in grades PreK-12.
· Reviewing and learning lessons to facilitate with students.
· Teaching lessons to students through in-school and after-school sessions.
· Traveling to multiple sites within a day to teach Salvadori’s programs.
Assisting in the development of STEAM programs and lessons and curricula with a focus on the built environment
· Making edits to the curriculum based on feedback from teaching.
· Ensuring our entire catalogue of curricula is up to date with industry standards, learning standards and is culturally responsive.
· Creating new, dynamic curriculum in collaboration with other Educators and Senior Educators.
Serving as a liaison between stakeholders to ensure high quality implementation of programs in classrooms.
· Scheduling and facilitating a pre-planning meetings and weekly check-ins with teachers whose classes are participating in the residency.
· Working with volunteers to provide career development to students.
Preparing and packing materials to use in classrooms
· Prepping materials (including cutting, scoring, counting, and sorting) to be used in the classroom.
· Packing all materials needed to teach.
Assisting Senior Educator to complete special projects as needed.
· Projects include but are not limited to: Annual Design Charrette, displays of student work product for the Annual Benefit, CTLE Professional Development Series, presentations at trade shows and conferences.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
· Experience teaching or tutoring PreK-12 students in an in-school or after-school environment
· Ability and willingness to travel within the five boroughs to multiple sites per day
· Ability to teach in NYCPS schools (ability to pass NYC DOE fingerprint clearance and vaccination requirements)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
· Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
· Preferred Skills and Qualifications
o Background in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, design, math or science.
o Experience working with diverse student populations in high-needs schools or community sites.
o Experience with lesson planning and/or curriculum development.
o Knowledge of best practices in classroom management and student development.
o Familiarity with STEM, New York State Standards for Math, Science, and Technology, as well as Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.
o Ability to work both independently and with others to advance organizational goals.
o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salvadori offers competitive salaries with an excellent benefits package. The total compensation package is: $77,078.76, which includes:
· Starting Salary: $58,500.00
· 403B Plan: 5% of salary equaling $2,925 (no match or contribution required)
· No Cost Benefits: $8,748.96 (no health insurance co-pays or deductibles)
In addition, all employees start with 52 leave days: 16 holidays, 15 vacation days, 9 sick days, 2 personal days, and 10 days.
