Job Overview

Big Bag NYC, established in 2003, is a known, high-end handbag and accessories store located on the Upper West Side. We specialize in an unparalleled collection of unique bags, accessories and jewelry representing over 100 independent international designers and renowned brands such as Jack Gomme, MZ Wallace, Plinio Visona and more. We provide our customers with superb quality and style with lightweight, durable bags in timeless designs for every occasion and personal style.

We currently have an opportunity open for an in-store, self-motivated part-time to convert to full-time position for a person with Website and Social Media experience and an intimate knowledge and interest in fashion, specifically handbags, jewelry, hats, scarves and other high-end personal accessories.

YOUR RELEVANT EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

You must have good style and fashion sense.
At least 3 years retail sales experience in an environment similar to ours
We prefer a applicant that has experience with managing e-commerce websites, social media, TikTok sales , and marketing emails
Demonstrated motivated self-learner who can remember sales points about each designer to apply to social media content and sale
Excellent fine motor skills and good vision/memory for accessing small jewelry displays, to maintain in-store visual displays and organize inventory
Store maintenance includes consistent organization, inventory management, and fulfilling online orders

WE OFFER:

To start an orientation period of up to 5 weeks at $22/hour
Upon orientation completion a guaranteed minimum of 4 days a week Part-time (32 hours/week) (must include availability for one weekend day)
Post-training Hourly rate will change commensurate with experience, and sales volume
Health insurance after 9 months uninterrupted service
Employee discount after 3 months of satisfactory uninterrupted employment

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist them with product selections, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Conduct product demos to highlight features and benefits, helping customers make informed decisions.
Manage point-of-sale (POS) transactions accurately, including cash handling and processing payments efficiently.
Upsell complementary products and services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales.
Maintain attractive merchandising displays and ensure shelves are stocked with current inventory.
Provide excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely.
Support inventory management through stocking, merchandising, and organizing products on the sales floor.

Requirements

Previous retail sales experience is required; supervisory experience is a plus.
Familiarity with SHOPIFY, POS systems, cash handling, and basic retail math is essential.
Strong communication skills in both English and bilingual capabilities are highly valued.
Ability to perform product demos effectively and engage customers confidently.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks such as merchandising, stocking, and customer service simultaneously.
Excellent phone etiquette, customer service skills, and a friendly attitude are required for success in this role. This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow their sales expertise while delivering outstanding customer service in a lively retail environment!
