Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Orangeburg, NY. This role ensures optimal equipment reliability, facility safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient preventive maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians and works cross-functionally with production, safety, and quality teams to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

Supervise, train, and develop maintenance technicians and support staff.
Schedule shifts and assign maintenance tasks based on production priorities.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Develop, implement, and manage a preventive and predictive maintenance program.
Oversee troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation.

Facility & Equipment Oversight

Ensure plant utilities (HVAC, compressors, boilers, etc.) are operating efficiently.
Manage capital improvement projects and equipment installations.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
Maintain spare parts inventory and control maintenance budgets.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety protocols.
Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Maintain documentation required for inspections.

Budget & Cost Control

Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
Track maintenance expenses and identify cost-saving initiatives.
Evaluate the lifecycle equipment and recommend replacements when necessary.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Experience in plastics, packaging, or high-speed production environments preferred in a manufacturing setting.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of electrical systems (480V), PLC troubleshooting, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Experience with CMMS systems.
Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance best practices.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Soft Skills

Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk the production floor for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying temperatures.
