Full Job Description

Our client, a prestigious financial services firm located in New York, NY, is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead their payroll function and ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll across a multi-state workforce. This is an on-site position in New York City offering a competitive salary and the opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing organization.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on payroll professional with strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, and a passion for process improvement.

Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a multi-state employee population.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, and year-end processing, including W-2s.
Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting to support employee lifecycle changes and reporting.
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
Manage payroll systems and collaborate with vendors as needed.
Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of payroll management or leadership experience.
Extensive experience processing multi-state payroll.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Experience with enterprise payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, or similar.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
