Full Job Description

Busy internal medical office in Richmond Hill Queens looking for a certified medical assistant
We are looking for 1 full time medical assistant (40hours/week). Immediate hire is possible. Temporary position with potential for permanent positon
REQUIREMENTS
Certification with accredited Medical Assistant program
At least 1-3 year of medical office experience is preferred
EMR experience preferred ( ECW knowledge is a plus)
Daytime and evening hours required as well as 2 Saturdays per month
Someone who values the importance of assigned tasks, and does them with precision, consistency, and reliability
RESPONSIBILITIES
-ability to maintain quick pace in high patient volume office
-provide compassionate care for our patients
-entering patient information and explaining office policies
-performs vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document findings in the medical record.
-collects and assists providers in collection of specimens, as required, using appropriate protocols such as infection control. Completes requisitions, labels and routes specimens according to standard procedure. Coordinate lab pick up
- performs patient care under the physician's direct supervision.
- duties include, but are not limited to; preparing patient for physician, administering, obtaining and recording diagnostic laboratory test results. Assists in coordinating organization of care to meet patient needs including, preparing, organizing and filing reports into the medical records
- phlebotomy, administering vaccines, performing EKG's and PFT's, escorting patients
- communicating with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician's guidance
- scheduling patients, collecting fees, greeting patients upon entry, answering phones, verifying insurances/eligibility if needed

- following up on pre-authorization requests
- may participate in pre-visit chart preparation by ensuring required lab results and documentation are available for review in addition to closing care gaps
- medication reconciliation with patients and documentation in medical record
- performs variety of other clerical functions such as scanning and labeling of paper medical records, , preparing medical record requests, photocopying, and assuring efficient flow of patients through the suite, etc

- other duties as assigned
