Mathnasium is the nation's leading math-only learning center, dedicated to helping students in grades K–12 build confidence and achieve academic success through personalized instruction. We are seeking an energetic, results-driven Center Director to lead the day-to-day operations of our Brooklyn center.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who is passionate about education, customer service, team development, and business growth. As the Center Director, you will be responsible for the educational success of every student, the satisfaction and loyalty of every family, the growth of center enrollments, and the leadership and development of a talented instructional team.
Position Overview
The Center Director is the highest level of leadership within the center and is responsible for successfully managing the educational, customer service, administrative, sales, and employee aspects of the business.
You will balance multiple priorities each day—from conducting student assessments and creating personalized learning plans, to enrolling new families, coaching employees, monitoring key performance indicators, and ensuring an exceptional experience for every student and parent.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic leader who enjoys building relationships, developing people, and creating an engaging learning environment where both students and employees can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the learning center to ensure exceptional educational outcomes.
Administer student assessments and identify learning gaps.
Develop customized Learning Plans based on assessment results.
Monitor student progress and ensure every student receives high-quality instruction.
Partner with instructors to provide an engaging and productive learning environment.
Take ownership of student success and academic achievement.
Customer Experience & Sales
Conduct enrollment consultations and effectively communicate the value of the Mathnasium program.
Build strong, lasting relationships with prospective and current families.
Convert leads into enrollments while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Maintain high levels of parent satisfaction and student retention.
Address parent questions and resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop instructors and leadership staff.
Create employee schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable team culture.
Identify high-potential employees and support their professional growth.
Business Operations
Manage all administrative functions of the center.
Utilize center management software to maintain student records and scheduling.
Create and maintain student files and learning materials.
Monitor key performance indicators, enrollment goals, and center performance.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree preferred.
2+ years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience.
Experience in education, tutoring, childcare, retail management, hospitality, or customer-focused environments.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
Comfortable balancing educational, operational, and sales responsibilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems.
Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays.
Preferred
Experience in education, academic enrichment, or tutoring.
Sales or enrollment experience with measurable results.
Experience managing performance metrics and business goals.
Passion for helping students build confidence and succeed in math.
