Full Job Description

Wholesale Sales Representative

Did you know that most coffee roasters around the world are roasting old coffee, even though it is freshly roasted?

You’ve been drinking months-old coffee, but Devoción is changing that. We source our beans directly from our network of independent coffee producers throughout Colombia, dry-mill them at our facility in Bogotá, and quickly send them to our roaster in New York vía FedEx. A few days later, the beans arrive in Brooklyn, to be freshly roasted and served as quickly as possible, going from origin to cup as fast as 10 days, light years quicker than the industry norm of 6-12 months.

About the Role

Devocion is seeking a sales-driven relationship builder and specialty coffee expert to join our team and support our mission of sharing the freshest and highest-quality coffee with our clients.

The ideal candidate will have coffee sales experience and be warm, professional, and passionate about delivering a memorable coffee experience. You will attract, manage, and grow wholesale partner accounts through building collaborative relationships, providing exceptional hospitality and service, and communicating company value and product knowledge, in conjunction with the Service and Education teams.

Core Responsibilities

● Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of Devoción core values, coffee products and equipment, and pricing structure

● Communicate company mission and effectively speak to coffee products and equipment including differences in processing, roast profiles, origins, etc.

● Execute promotional and incentive programs to support sales growth and increase order volume, in coherence with the marketing strategy

● Manage and grow our wholesale client base by building and maintaining strong relationships with current clients and actively identifying new client opportunities

● Make outbound sales outreach, leveraging existing relationships and building new ones through networking, events, referrals, and targeted sales efforts, focusing on corporate offices, distributors, restaurants, hotels, and cafes

● Conduct coffee tastings and sales presentations, and coordinate onsite events for prospective and existing clients

● Manage client accounts to drive success, including timely troubleshooting, client visits, technician service coordination, trainings, and distribution of marketing materials

● Maintain up to date, organized client files and account records on a daily basis, including CRM maintenance

● Regular daily and weekly travel around NYC to visit current clients and potential

Key Skills and Qualifications

● 3+ years of specialty coffee experience. Must be passionate about coffee; knowledge of coffee equipment is a major asset

● Must be a self-starter committed to excellence and high standards and an ability to manage relationships

● Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, relationship building, and organizational skills.

● Ability to organize and present information clearly to clients, while handling high-pressure situations calmly and with a solution-oriented attitude

● Strong computer and administrative skills required

● Self-motivated, ability to multitask, and take initiative to complete tasks

● Ideal candidate is a competitive, achievement-oriented extrovert with strong skills in negotiation and networking

●Understanding of Devoción’s core values, sourcing practices, and production standards

●Ability to foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

Sustainability & Environmental Responsibilities

●Report any process that may pose environmental risks related to water, energy, waste disposal, or chemical handling

●Properly sort waste and contribute to sustainability efforts

●Suggest ideas to improve sustainability through Devoción’s internal channels

●Actively participate in company training and compliance initiatives

Compensation & benefits

● Salary: $60- $80K, Base salary + commission (based on experience)
