Full Job Description

Position Summary
The New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) provides peer-based support and recovery-focused services to adults with mental health conditions. Drawing on personal lived experience of recovery, the NYCPS fosters hope, empowerment, and engagement in treatment. Services may take place in the clinic or community settings to support recovery and reintegration, while maintaining compliance with OMH standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide peer mentoring, recovery coaching, and group facilitation to support adults with mental health challenges
Assist clients in developing recovery goals, coping skills, and self-advocacy strategies
Support transitions between levels of care and promote community integration
Connect individuals to resources such as housing, employment, benefits, and community programs
Deliver services both onsite and in-community to maximize engagement and access
Promote resilience and empowerment through shared lived experience
Maintain timely documentation in line with OMH and agency requirements
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

Qualifications

New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) credential (Provisional or Full) required or eligibility to obtain
Personal lived experience with mental health recovery
Strong communication, empathy, and professional boundary-setting skills
Understanding of recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and community resources
Ability to provide services in community-based or offsite settings as needed
Experience providing peer support in behavioral health preferred
Bilingual skills a plus

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

License/Certification:

NYCPS Provisional/Full credential (Required)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Brooklyn, NY 11215
