Full Job Description

Well established Midtown Manhattan appellate services company seeks a Word Processor to assist our paralegal department by performing a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to word processing, proofreading and document editing and manipulation. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who has strong computer skills that are balanced with experience in type, composition and document layout.

The prospective applicant must possess the following to be considered:

· Extensive experience with Microsoft Office including formatting, producing, proofreading and revising documents

· Ability to properly format documents. Experience with legal documents preferred - particularly Tables of Contents (TOCs) & Tables of Authorities (TOAs)

· Familiarity with WestLaw, Adobe, Word Perfect and Quark a plus

· Attention to detail both written and verbal

· Time management and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

· A sense of urgency to meet deadlines

· Flexibility with time/hours as occasional overtime is necessary

· Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

· Work closely with word processors, proofreaders and paralegals

· Composes covers, tables and forms against the master/templates provided

· Recognize and question inconsistencies in information and format

· Edit documents upon request and maintain uniformity in accordance with court rules

· Will be fully trained in our specific style

· A skill assessment will be conducted.
