JOB TITLE: Restaurant and Culinary Management/Culinary Arts Lead Instructor (Full Time)
REPORTS TO: Dean of Restaurant & Culinary Management/ Director of Education

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Restaurant & Culinary Management and Culinary Arts Instructor and provide top-tier services to its students. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. The Instructor will use our curriculum to lead engaging academic and hands-on classes in both an in-person and distance education environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures as required by the curriculum
- Assess student performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations
- Maintain a positive, focused learning environment during class
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Attend meetings and faculty orientation as required
- Conduct in-classroom demonstrations as required by curriculum.
- Demonstrate techniques and concepts as required by the curriculum.
- Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures both in-person and online.
- Assess student and faculty performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations.
- Maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
- Assure classes are conducted in a manner that complies with principles of food safety and sanitation.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Attend meetings and faculty orientation as required.
- Attend and assist at annual commencement ceremony.
- Other duties as required by Manager
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Formal culinary arts or pastry arts education
- Must possess a solid foundation of culinary and/or pastry & baking knowledge, with a strong desire for continued learning
- Minimum of seven (7) years culinary experience with some supervisory responsibilities. Fine Dining experience highly preferred.
- College-level teaching experience highly preferred.
- Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
- Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.
- Must have knowledge of restaurant management, concept & menu development, marketing, purchasing, food safety, service management, finance, restaurant law, human resources, wine & beverage, facilities & design and entrepreneurship (or any combination thereof).
- Teaching or related field experience is a plus
- Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with others.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with staff and student population
