About Us
We are a specialized Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) delivering 24/7 security operations, detection, and response services to organizations in the space and defense sectors. Our clients operate in highly regulated, mission-critical environments where national security, ITAR, CMMC, NIST RMF, and continuous monitoring requirements are non-negotiable.
We protect the systems that protect the nation and we’re looking for a sharp, curious junior analyst ready to grow with our new offices in New Jersey.
Role Overview
As a Junior Security Operations Technician, you will serve as a frontline defender in our Security Operations Center. You will monitor customer environments, triage security alerts, follow established playbooks, and escalate validated incidents. This is a true entry-to-junior level role designed for someone who wants hands-on experience in a high-stakes MSSP environment supporting space and defense missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor SIEM, EDR, firewall, IDS/IPS, cloud security, and other telemetry for anomalous or malicious activity across customer environments
- Verify hardening in customer environments and help implement security configurations
- Perform initial alert triage, validation, and prioritization using documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and playbooks
- Investigate basic security events, correlate logs, and gather initial evidence to support escalation to senior analysts
- Accurately document findings, timelines, and actions in the ticketing/incident management system
- Escalate confirmed or high-confidence incidents with clear context and supporting artifacts
- Assist with basic vulnerability monitoring, phishing analysis, and continuous monitoring activities aligned to DoD and space-sector requirements
- Support shift handovers, maintain situational awareness, and contribute to process improvement
- Stay current on relevant threats, especially those targeting defense and space systems
Note: This is a 24/7 operations role. Rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) are required.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance eligibility and ITAR-related work)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (active Secret or higher strongly preferred)
- Foundational knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, common protocols), Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic cybersecurity concepts
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to follow structured processes under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you will be documenting findings that matter
- Willingness to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 SOC environment
- High school diploma + relevant experience, or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience/labs/internships)
Preferred Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in a SOC, NOC, help desk with security focus, IT operations, or related technical role (internships, labs, military, or personal projects count)
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, CySA+, or equivalent (DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II baseline preferred)
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, QRadar, etc.), EDR tools, or log analysis
- Exposure to MITRE ATT&CK, basic threat intelligence concepts, or incident response frameworks
- Understanding of compliance environments (NIST 800-X, RMF, CMMC, STIGs, or space-sector security requirements) is a plus
- Scripting familiarity (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) is helpful but not required
