Full Job Description

Job Overview

We're seeking a skilled millwork professional who combines strong technical drafting ability with hands-on shop knowledge and leadership skills. This role bridges the gap between design intent and shop-floor execution — producing accurate shop drawings, guiding production, and ensuring every project is built to spec.

Responsibilities

Produce detailed architectural millwork shop drawings using AutoCAD and Cabinet Vision, including elevations, sections, and details suitable for fabrication
Interpret architect and designer drawings/specifications and translate them into buildable shop drawings
Specify and coordinate hardware selections (hinges, slides, locks, pulls, etc.) appropriate to design intent and function
Review drawings for accuracy, buildability before release to the shop floor
Collaborate with project managers to resolve design and field questions
Maintain knowledge of current millwork industry standards (AWI/AWS Quality Standards a plus)

Troubleshoot field conditions and produce as-built or revised drawings when required.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in architectural millwork or custom cabinet shop drawings
Proficiency in AutoCAD required (CNC Machining, 2D drafting; 3D/SketchUp a plus)
Strong knowledge of cabinet construction methods, joinery, and materials (wood species, veneers, laminates, solid surface, etc.)
Working knowledge of architectural hardware .
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Strong communication skills — able to work with designers, architects, and shop staff
Familiarity with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards preferred
Experience with CNC-related drawing/nesting a plus, but not required.
