Full Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Clinic Start-Up & Operations Lead

Help Build Something Extraordinary from Day One

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to play a key role in launching and growing a new pediatric outpatient clinic. This is a unique opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about direct patient care and enjoys creating efficient clinical workflows, building strong patient relationships, and helping establish a high-quality practice from the ground up.

As a founding member of our clinical team, you will work closely with the medical director to develop office systems, implement and monitor best practices, and ensure a smooth and successful clinic opening.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the launch and operational setup of a new pediatric practice.
Develop and implement clinical workflows, policies, and procedures.
Prepare exam rooms and ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards.
Coordinate vaccine management, including ordering, inventory control, storage, and monitoring.
Coordinate ordering and inventory management for medical and office supplies.
Set up and maintain medication management systems.
Develop and maintain office policies and procedures re: specimen handling.
Participate in Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation, workflow optimization, and staff training.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, CDC, and state regulatory requirements.
Develop patient intake, triage, and telephone protocols.
Provide high-quality nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents.
Perform patient assessments, triage, and care coordination.
Administer immunizations, medications, and treatments according to pediatric standards of care.
Perform point of care testing, venipuncture, and specimen collection.
Educate patients and families on preventive care, childhood illnesses, medications, and immunization schedules.
Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and care coordination.
Manage telephone triage and patient portal communications.
Assist with quality improvement initiatives and clinical documentation standards.
Collaborate with physicians and staff to create an exceptional patient and family experience.
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training clinical support staff as the practice grows.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in New York State.
Minimum 5 years of pediatric nursing experience in an outpatient pediatric practice preferred.
Previous experience in launching a new practice, program development, or practice expansion.
Strong knowledge of pediatric immunization schedules, vaccine management, and pediatric clinical protocols.
Experience with EHR systems and clinical workflow development.
Excellent communication, leadership and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and thrive in a dynamic startup environment.
Current BLS certification (PALS preferred).

Preferred Skills

Experience with Vaccine for Children (VFC) program.
Population health and care coordination experience.
Project management and workflow design experience.
Experience developing policies, protocols, and staff education materials.
Familiarity with quality metrics, patient-centered medical home principles, and value-based care programs.
