Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder Carman Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Queens, NY. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and repairing our fleet of railcars, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. If you have a passion for welding and mechanics, along with a commitment to quality workmanship, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

Perform welding and fabrication tasks on railcars using various welding techniques.
Conduct inspections and assessments to identify mechanical issues and necessary repairs.
Repair and maintain components such as brakes, wheels, and couplers.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Document work performed and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
Stay updated on industry standards and best practices in welding and mechanical repair.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding or mechanics is a plus.
Proven experience as a welder or mechanic, preferably in the rail industry.
Strong knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and safety practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
