Our client, an award-winning Architecture and Design company with a national footprint, is searching for a Studio Leader to lead the Healthcare Practice.

The ideal candidate will reside in New York, Florida, or Arizona.

JOB DESCRIPTION | PRACTICE LEADER

Practice Leaders are responsible for raising the floor of the firm within their practice area. They sit at the intersection of business growth, design excellence, client trust, and people development.

Practice Leaders shape what work we pursue, how we deliver it, and who we become as a team. They are accountable for pipeline health, design quality, client satisfaction, team development, and performance outcomes.

Business Development & Pipeline accountability

Practice Leaders are accountable for building and sustaining a healthy, forward-looking pipeline. Own the practice pipeline from early opportunity through signed contract; Actively cultivate new and repeat client relationships; Serve as a senior presence in pursuits, interviews, and presentations; Lead or support fee strategy, scope definition, and proposal development; Partner with firm leadership to establish annual revenue and growth targets; Maintain clear visibility into future workload to inform staffing and hiring

Success looks like: predictable pipeline coverage, diversified opportunities, and alignment with firm revenue goals.

Design Leadership

Practice Leaders are the design standard-setters for their practice. Establish and champion the design vision and quality expectations; Provide high-level design direction and critique across projects; Ensure work aligns with client goals, firm values, and market positioning; Serve as a sounding board for complex or high-risk design challenges; Encourage innovation while protecting clarity, constructability, and intent

Success looks like: consistent design quality, confident teams, and work that the firm is proud to put its name on.

Client Trust & Satisfaction

Practice Leaders are trusted advisors; not just service providers. They maintain senior level client relationships; Set and manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle; Intervene early when scope, schedule, budget, or delivery is at risk; Resolve issues directly, transparently, and professionally; Build long-term relationships that lead to repeat work and referrals

Success looks like: strong client feedback, repeat engagements, and trusted-partner status.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

Practice Leaders build strong teams and future leaders. They Mentor Project Managers, Designers, and emerging leaders; Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance; Reinforce accountability, collaboration, and firm culture - Identify talent gaps and support hiring, onboarding, and development; Create clarity around roles, expectations, and decision-making

Success looks like: engaged teams, growing leaders, and reduced dependency on any single individual.

Project Engagement & Oversight

Practice Leaders stay strategically engaged, not buried in task-level execution. They Maintain oversight of key projects without owning daily production; Monitor project health: scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and quality; Support Project Managers in resolving risks and conflicts; Step in when escalation or course correction is required; Capture lessons learned and share them across the practice.

Success looks like: stable projects, fewer surprises, and early issue resolution.

Performance & Accountability

Practice Leaders are accountable for measurable outcomes. They track and review practice-level KPIs: revenue, backlog, pipeline, utilization, and profitability; Evaluate project and team performance for trends and risks; Use data to guide decisions and continuous improvement
