Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Pharmacy Technician’s assists the pharmacists in preparation of medications for distribution based on physician orders and prescriptions while working effectively under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist while performing duties of a pharmacy technician.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day. May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day. Maybe necessary to work extended hours as needed. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal voice sounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal Pharmacy environment – In-service attendance, and trainings. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/ Certifications: National Pharmacy Tech Certification (PHT) preferred.
HIPAA training
Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Position requires the use of email and specialty pharmacy management software (CareTend)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet research; General knowledge of information database/lookup of information
Ability to speak clearly and concisely over the telephone and to hear information telephonically and type/input relevant information into the computer system with a high level of accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills and multi-tasking abilities required
Must be able to measure and calculate dosage
Current certification upon hire and rechecked annually. Employee will notify BioTek in a timely manner of an adverse change in certification status upon which corrective action will be taken.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively communicate with Pharmacy staff and vendors.
Maintain compliance and adherence to all policies and procedures required by BioTek reMEDys in the Pharmacy.
Responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to ensure process of dispensing, and other ancillary tasks related to the operation to avoid shipping delays.
Confirm address and document the delivery address that the patient and/or healthcare provider has provided to ensure that the correct address is chosen & displayed in patient’s order.
Follow procedures to assure that the medication order is set up for the right patients to receive the correct medication, to the correct address with the correct time frame.
Assist with shipment acceptance, unpacking, check in and storage placement of product when needed.
Assist in restocking and any other projects or needs of the pharmacy, as per the Pharmacists requests.
Assist with all inventory management and control procedures as needed.
Assist with equipment management responsibilities as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the Pharmacy in conjunction with other members of the Pharmacy Team pursuant to the Product Dispensing and Distribution Management Plan. This includes ensuring all boxes are broken down and disposed of correctly at the time they are being worked with, that trash is to be disposed of in the proper containers, and all areas are to be kept clean and free of all hazards to mobility. All Pharmacy Team members are required to share equally in these responsibilities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
