Full Job Description

The trade Logistics Planner ensures the right frozen dessert products are in the right locations at the right time. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills to manage inventory across a temperature-controlled network and support high service levels in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.

Core Skills & Competencies

1. Inventory Optimization

Ability to balance safety stock, lead times, and shelf-life requirements for frozen products.
Skilled in evaluating inventory positions and making proactive adjustments to avoid stockouts and overstocks.
Understanding of cold-chain requirements and how they influence storage, deployment, and replenishment strategies.

2. Analytical & Data Skills

Experienced in analyzing demand signals, production outputs, and logistics constraints to inform deployment decisions.
Strong command of planning tools and advanced Excel or analytics platforms.
Able to generate insights from large, complex data sets to improve planning accuracy and reduce waste.

3. Logistics & Distribution Coordination

Knowledge of refrigerated transportation, regional distribution structures, and cold-storage capacity management.
Ability to coordinate with logistics partners to ensure on-time, temperature-compliant deliveries.
Skilled in managing exceptions such as transit delays, shortages, and load consolidations.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Comfortable working closely with production schedulers, demand planners, quality teams, and customer service.
Skilled at communicating supply risks, negotiating priorities, and aligning stakeholders on inventory strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills to support S&OP discussions and scenario planning.

5. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

Ability to quickly identify root causes of supply imbalances and implement corrective actions.
Skilled in scenario and contingency planning, especially during peak seasons or promotional periods.
Comfortable making time-sensitive decisions in a high-velocity FMCG environment.

6. Continuous Improvement Mindset

Ability to identify inefficiencies in deployment processes and recommend improvements.
Familiarity with lean or process optimization methodologies.
Comfort with iterative testing and implementation of new planning techniques or tools.

Experience & Qualifications

Required

2-4 years of experience in supply planning, deployment, logistics, or inventory management
Strong data and analytical abilities
Proficiency with ERP and planning systems
Understanding of temperature-controlled distribution
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred

Experience in frozen foods, dairy, or CPG environment
Exposure to S&OP, forecasting, or production scheduling
Knowledge of shelf-life management and cold-chain compliance

Success Indicators

A high-performing trade logistics coordinator in a frozen dessert company will:

Maintain strong customer service levels
Minimize write-offs and waste caused by temperature or shelf-life constraints
Keep inventory balanced across the network
Communicate clearly and consistently with cross-functional partners
Drive continuous improvements in deployment accuracy and responsiveness
