Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QualityTechnician to lead quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives at our manufacturing site. This role is responsible for ensuring execution of quality standards, food safety programs, and compliance requirements while translating company policies into disciplined daily operations.

The Quality Technician will oversee site-level quality performance, ensuring that production, handling, storage, and delivery processes consistently meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and certification requirements.

This is a hands-on role responsible for driving quality excellence, managing deviations, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and building a strong culture of food safety and compliance throughout the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality & Food Safety Execution

Implement and maintain global quality and food safety standards at the site level.
Monitor daily quality performance across production and operational areas.
Ensure proper handling, processing, storage, and delivery of products.
Serve as the primary owner of site quality outcomes.
Provide leadership and oversight for food safety programs, including HACCP systems, sanitation programs, environmental monitoring, and microbiological testing.

Compliance, Audits & Certifications

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer standards, and food safety certifications.
Lead internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
Maintain accurate quality documentation, records, traceability systems, and compliance reporting.
Act as a key contact for regulatory authorities, auditors, and certification bodies.
Ensure required quality and regulatory training programs are maintained in accordance with applicable regulations, including 9 CFR and 21 CFR requirements.

Deviation Management & Continuous Improvement

Lead investigations related to quality issues, product deviations, and food safety concerns.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor recurring issues and drive sustainable corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across production and site operations.
Ensure quality issues are escalated, documented, and resolved through established processes.

HACCP & Food Safety Programs

Provide overall direction and support for HACCP systems and food safety programs.
Ensure compliance with Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), FSMA, PCQI, GFSI, and similar food safety programs.
Support evaluation of raw materials, finished products, industrial hygiene studies, environmental sampling, and testing programs.
Partner with internal experts and operational teams to strengthen food safety capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the Plant Manager, Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
Support Technical Sales and Product Lifecycle Management with quality and product-related expertise.
Ensure alignment between production practices and quality requirements.
Communicate risks, trends, and critical quality concerns in a timely and structured manner.

Leadership & Employee Development

Train employees on food safety, quality standards, hygiene practices, and compliance requirements.
Promote a culture where quality and food safety are owned by all employees, not only the Quality department.
Deliver training effectively to a diverse workforce; bilingual communication skills are strongly preferred.

Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
5–10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or related manufacturing roles.
Experience working in food production, processing, or manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, audit processes, and structured quality management systems.
Experience with HACCP, FSMA, PCQI, GFSI, PRPs, or similar food safety programs.
Experience leading investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes.
Strong understanding of sanitation, pest control, environmental monitoring, and microbiological testing programs.
Ability to evaluate raw materials, finished products, and quality testing requirements.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing quality programs within a food manufacturing environment.
Experience leading regulatory, customer, and certification audits.
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred. Spanish language capability is highly valued due to the need to train and communicate effectively with a predominantly Spanish-speaking workforce.

Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred to support effective employee training and communication.
Experience with FDA regulations/ USDA
