Full Job Description

General Summary of Position:

The Licensed Clinician is responsible for developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for clients through the use of interviews, observations, testing, and other information gathered from collateral sources. This individual assesses and treats clients with mental, emotional, or substance use and addiction problems, including use of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and/or other drugs. Provides comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based services to individuals and families affected by addiction.

Responsibilities:

Provides counseling, ensuring that our programs align with the organization's mission and values.
Counsels clients in individual or group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance issues, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
Designs, implements, and evaluates substance abuse prevention programs for diverse populations, including schools, community groups, and at-risk individuals.
Conducts counseling in jail, in-patient residential facilities, and other remote community locations.
Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge using person-center based practices.
Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress with respect to treatment goals. Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives. Modifies treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.
Meets with families, probation officers, caseworkers, police, or other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
Refers clients or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting clients.
Interviews clients, reviews records, conducts assessments, or confers with other professionals to evaluate the mental or physical condition of clients.
Collaborates with counselors and other staff to plan or coordinate treatment, drawing on clinical experience and client needs.
Learns about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
Gathers information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with evidence-based practices.
Fills out and maintains client-related paperwork, including federal-and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.
Maintains accurate and confidential records and prepare reports as required by regulatory and funding agencies, such as HIPAA 42 CFR Part 2.
Maintains accurate reporting logs, submits in a timely fashion. Meets requirements of grant funded programs.
Adheres to standards of CARF, Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, and Agency procedures.
Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, other areas of the organization, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Collaborates with administrative staff such as billing, Administrative Manager, and Executive Director.
May assist in client transport as needed.
Maintain productivity standards according to Agency policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum associate’s degree in a behavioral health science, a LSW or LCDCII, and one year counseling experience. Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred with associated licensure preferred.
Must be licensed to practice in the state of Ohio, fulfilling all requirements of the respective accrediting board.
Proof of valid Driver’s License and state minimum required personal auto insurance policy.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental, emotional, or substance use and addiction problems, including use of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and/or other drugs.
Strong knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Aware of others’ reactions and familiarity of human behavior and personality.
Compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to the mission of behavioral health barriers.
Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software such as Zoom, Outlook email, and electronic health records system.
Ability to be resourceful when faced with challenges and think outside the box.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
