About Us

Sygrove Associates Design Group Inc. is a highly successful New York City-based interior design firm specializing in luxury lobby, hallway, and common area renovations for high-end cooperatives, condominiums, and residential real estate developments. Our work combines sophisticated aesthetics with practical execution across hospitality, residential, and commercial interiors.

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and creatively driven Interior Designer with 3–5 years of professional studio experience to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a designer who possesses strong design sensibility combined with proven hands-on, end-to-end project management experience.

Position Overview

We are specifically seeking a candidate with substantial real-world experience managing interior design projects from initial concept development through final installation and project completion. The ideal candidate must have actual “hands-on” involvement in every stage of the design and implementation process — not simply supporting projects, but actively leading, coordinating, executing, and problem-solving throughout all phases of work. This role requires a designer who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from start to finish, including:

Initial design concepts and space planning
Selection and specification of materials, finishes, furnishings, fabrics, and lighting
Development of renderings and final design presentations
Preparation of presentation boards and client-facing materials
Conducting in-person client meetings and presentations
Specification writing and preparation of purchasing documents
Budget management and project scheduling
Coordination of deliveries and installations to job sites
Review, redlining, and approval of shop drawings and fabrication details
Site visits, field verification, and construction coordination
Resolving on-site issues and construction challenges
Punch listing and overseeing project closeout

The successful candidate must be proactive, detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional design and execution standards.

Key Responsibilities

Participate deeply in the end-to-end design strategy and implementation process
Work closely with the Principal to establish project concepts, goals, and overall design direction
Lead projects through all phases from concept development to final installation
Develop and present detailed interior design schemes for client review and approval
Finalize design concepts, materials, and specifications for implementation
Prepare floor plans, elevations, renderings, and presentation materials
Create both digital and physical presentation boards
Source furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, artwork, and accessories
Coordinate directly with vendors, contractors, consultants, and suppliers
Request and review product information, samples, lead times, and pricing
Prepare budgets, purchasing documents, and specification packages
Produce detailed millwork drawings, furniture layouts, and custom design documentation
Conduct on-site measurements and field surveys
Enter and verify site survey information in AutoCAD
Attend and lead virtual and in-person client meetings and presentations
Conduct weekly project coordination meetings and distribute meeting notes
Manage project schedules, deliveries, and installation timelines
Assist with delivery inspections and installation coordination
Review and approve shop drawings and fabrication submittals
Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress and resolve issues
Perform punch list walkthroughs and verify completion of outstanding work
Update project maintenance manuals and specifications
Collaborate closely with all team members while maintaining accountability for assigned projects
Support all additional project and studio responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications/Professional Experience

3–5 years of professional interior design studio experience
Experience in hospitality, residential, and commercial interiors
Proven hands-on experience managing projects from concept through completion
Strong understanding of construction detailing, fabrication, specifications, and furniture systems
Experience coordinating directly with clients, contractors, vendors, and consultants
Deep knowledge of hospitality furnishings, fabrics, finishes, and resources

Technical Skills

Advanced AutoCAD drafting skills required
Adobe Photoshop proficiency
SketchUp proficiency
Revit and rendering experience preferred
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
Specification writing experience required
Ability to prepare colored dressed elevations

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously

Must be available for occasional evening client meetings and early morning meetings as needed

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience
