Full Job Description

Full time HHAs are assigned to monitor dayrooms, coordinate resident laundry and provide 1:1 monitoring as needed.

HHAs acting as Patient Escorts (per diem) are responsible for the safe and efficient escort of patients to and from clinic appointments (transportation provided)

Responsibilities:

Dayroom Monitoring:

Responsible for ensuring the safety of residents in the dayroom
engages residents in activities / discussion while in dayroom
ensures the tidiness of resident areas
labels resident clothing as needed
returns clean laundry to resident areas

1:1 Monitoring:

ensures the safety and well being of wandering residents who have been placed on 1:1 monitoring
informs unit nurse of changes in behavior

Escort position:

Responsible for escorting patients as assigned to clinics and doctor visits, etc.
Responsible for checking each patient's name band prior to escorting to ensure proper patient identification.
Provide and adjust escort equipment for safety and comfort of the patient
Required to disinfect / wipe down equipment with approved cleaning product between patient transports.
Assist patients onto escort equipment. If patients need additional help, patient care should be asked to assist.
Responsible for notifying nursing or ancillary personnel upon arrival or departure of patients.
Attends to the care of documents relating to the patient with handover to clinic and facility staff
Report immediately any unusual symptoms of patients i. e. fainting or shortness of breath during time of escort.

Qualifications

Must be able to speak, spell, read, write and understand English.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with patients of all ages.
Must have good patient relations and courteous manners.
Must be able to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality and good attendance.
High School diploma or acceptable equivalent.
At least 1 year experience with patient escort handling preferred.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
