JOB SUMMARY:
Provide assistance to the District Library and Instructional Technology teacher and serve the campus with library services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should have the ability to work collaboratively with the district librarian to set up and manage effective library procedures. Responsible for supervision of students in the library during library lessons. Candidate will also manage library and technology circulation, create an engaging and nurturing educational environment, and manage maker space activities for students during library class periods.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of library/media center automated circulation system and library rules, functions, policies and procedures. Familiarity with practices and procedures of a school library/media center. Computer/technology skills.
Ability to:

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Assist library/media specialist with supervision of library educational assistant, student assistants, and parent volunteers.

Set up and manage effective library procedures.

Operate efficiently various machines and equipment including computers and audiovisual equipment.

Lift and carry audiovisual equipment.

Work independently and exercise good judgment.

Recognize situations that require referral to the library/media center specialist. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking students and adults preferred.
Experience: Experience working in a library and/or a public school setting preferred and/or experience in assessment work.
Education: Associates Degree or Minimum of 72 college credits.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Establish and maintain procedures for effective circulation and maintenance of technology equipment in partnership with the district technology department.

Manage circulation of library materials as well as technology devices to students and staff.

Work with the district librarian to assist with the cataloging of purchased materials.

Maintain and update the Destiny Library catalog to reflect currently enrolled student accounts and currently employed staff accounts.

Answer telephone and assist staff and patrons with varied requests.

Receive, inspect, and process incoming equipment and materials.

Train and supervise student aides in routine library tasks.

Maintain and inventory technology equipment and other library materials.

Assist in ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies.

Process student ID cards for students and maintain individual student pictures.

Manage staff, train and proctor all state-required assessments.

Repair books and equipment as necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills: Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memos and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the
neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and frequently performs repetitive motions. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a school library environment. Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Works when school is in session and additional days as negotiated to set up and close out library. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

Classified, Regular, Part - Time Position at Antonia Crater Elementary
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
16 hours per week. 190 day calendar.
Salary Range 8 of the 2026-27 Classified Salary Schedule TBD (25-26 $19.11 - $23.49)
