Bristol Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Safety Observer (PSO).
The Patient Safety Observer (PSO) utilizes MedSitter remote patient safety audio and video monitoring technology, to remotely observe patients. This technology allows a Patient Safety Observer the ability to follow multiple patients in collaboration with unit clinical nurses. This role will also include in-person patient monitoring and care to support the teams. The successful candidate will provide one-on-one companionship and supervision with patients via remote technology. The PSO will observe, communicate and document behaviors and alert the patient care team of behaviors that could be disruptive to the patient care plan.
The objective of this role is to provide enhanced monitoring to improve patient safety, improve patient satisfaction and aid in the successful care plan for each patient.
Qualifications
Educational / Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED desired but not necessary.
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Active CPR certificate required
Experience in a hospital environment with direct patient care preferred
Good communication skills
Early adopters welcome! Ability to learn and navigate software and technology efficiently
Effective problem solving skills to ensure patient safety
Licensure, Certifications and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Healthcare provider CPR from American Heart Association, Accucheck, Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Additional cross-training as appropriate to perform diverse job duties. Successfully complete all training programs as determined by the Hospital. Other unit based competencies/skills as required.
Special Requirements:
Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology. Ability to work as part of a team. Basic Computer skills. Data entry and documentation skills.
Physical Requirements:
Significant walking, bending, stooping, patient lifting and positioning.
Cognitive Requirements:
Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties involved in patient care. Good communication skills, written and oral, and ability to follow written and oral instruction.
