Staff Pharmacist

Location: Linville, NC | Part-time | Variable Shifts

Compensation: Starting pay begins at $55.85 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.

Schedule: Full-time position with variable shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage as needed.

What You'll Do as a Staff Pharmacist

Review, verify, and manage medication orders to ensure safe, accurate, and effective drug therapy.
Participate in interdisciplinary patient care activities, including medication reconciliation, medication therapy monitoring, and clinical consultations.
Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medications and treatment plans.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication outcomes.
Provide drug information, dosing recommendations, and evidence-based clinical support.
Perform distributive pharmacy functions to ensure timely medication availability and delivery.
Monitor patient responses to medication therapy and recommend interventions as appropriate.
Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
Support the education and training of pharmacy students through practical and didactic learning experiences.
Demonstrate UNC Health Appalachian's Mission, Vision, and Values through professional, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.

Experience

One (1) year of clinical patient care and medication order management experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Current license to practice Pharmacy in the State of North Carolina required.

Physical & Work Environment

Frequent standing and walking throughout shifts.
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials weighing up to and greater than 50 pounds.
Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition requiring moderate dexterity.
Frequent close eye work and detailed medication verification activities.
Exposure to electrical and mechanical equipment, chemicals, biological specimens, and healthcare-related hazards.
Subject to variable schedules including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
Occasional exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation environments.
