Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health by handling a variety of bookkeeping tasks with precision and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that values integrity, accuracy, and proactive financial management.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities including data entry of journal entries, debits & credits, and account analysis using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
Process payroll accurately and timely, including payroll taxes and deductions using payroll processing systems
Handle accounts payable
Prepare financial reports to be reviewed with
Maintain detailed records of financial transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliation reports
Assist with budgeting process
Conduct monthly account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve issues promptly
Support year-end closing activities and prepare documentation for tax preparation

Experience

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with a strong understanding of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xe
Demonstrated knowledge of corporate accounting principles,
Experience with payroll processing, tax filing procedures, and account reconciliation techniques
Familiarity with financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis
Ability to work efficiently with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data management and reporting purposes
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred
Prior experience working within public accounting firms or in roles supporting governmental or non-profit organizations is advantageous
