Atlanta Aviation International, an Aventure Aviation Company, is an FAA Repair Station specializing in the restoration and refinishing of aircraft interior components. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Surface Prep Technician to join our growing production team.

Position Summary
The Surface Prep Technician is responsible for preparing aircraft interior components for painting and decorative finishing. This includes cleaning, sanding, masking, repairing surfaces, applying body filler, and ensuring parts meet quality standards before they enter the paint process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare aircraft interior components including sidewall panels, overhead bins, ceiling panels, lavatories, galleys, tray tables, and other composite or metal parts.
- Sand, scuff, scrape, and clean surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Apply, shape, and feather body filler (Bondo or equivalent) to create smooth, defect-free surfaces.
- Perform minor fiberglass and composite repairs.
- Mask and protect areas that should not be painted and remove masking upon completion.
- Clean parts using approved solvents and adhesive removers.
- Wet sand, polish, and buff surfaces as required.
- Assist painters and production personnel with staging and preparation of parts.
- Read and follow work instructions, repair process plans, and technical documentation.
- Inspect completed prep work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with OSHA and FAA safety requirements.
- Assist other team members as needed to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One to three years of experience in surface preparation, auto body repair, painting support, composites, or a related field preferred.
- Experience using body fillers, sanding equipment, and hand tools.
- Ability to perform basic fiberglass or composite repairs is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and repair documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Dependable work ethic and reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
