Many of the most important aspects of this work cannot be taught in training alone. This role is best suited for individuals who feel called to recovery support work and who are motivated by purpose, teamwork, and service.
Position Overview
The Peer Coach / Driver provides direct, recovery-oriented peer support as the primary function of the role, while also coordinating and delivering safe, reliable transportation for program participants. When not actively providing transportation, this role functions fully as a Peer Coach within the recovery support center, offering coaching, engagement, and resource navigation services.
This dual-role position helps ensure participants can access recovery meetings, treatment services, court appointments, employment opportunities, and other essential supports through both peer coaching and transportation assistance.
This position requires flexibility, strong time management, professional boundaries, and a heart for service. The Peer Coach / Driver works closely with Program Coordinators to ensure participant recovery support needs are prioritized and that transportation needs are met in alignment with participant care plans and organizational priorities.
Role Purpose
To build trust, offer hope, remove barriers to recovery, and support participants through coaching, transportation assistance, resource navigation, and connection to services while meeting people where they are and supporting multiple pathways to recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Peer Support & Engagement
- Provide recovery coaching, check-ins, and ongoing participant support.
- Welcome walk-in participants and assist in identifying immediate needs.
- Share lived experience appropriately to encourage hope and engagement while maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Support participants in identifying goals, strengths, and next steps in their recovery journey.
- Promote a welcoming, safe, and stigma-free environment.
Transportation & Participant Support
- Provide safe and timely transportation for participants to appointments, meetings, treatment services, recovery programs, and community resources.
- Assist participants with entering and exiting vehicles as needed.
- Maintain a respectful, supportive, and recovery-focused environment during transportation.
- Communicate clearly with participants regarding pickup times, schedules, and expectations.
- Support participant engagement by helping reduce transportation barriers to recovery.
- Adhere to all organizational policies regarding participant transport, confidentiality, and safety.
- Coordinate transportation schedules and routes efficiently.
Resource Navigation & Service Coordination
- Connect participants and families to recovery support, community resources, and partner services.
- Support referrals and warm handoffs when appropriate.
- Coordinate transportation schedules and routes efficiently.
- Communicate participant needs, progress, concerns, delays, or transportation issues to the Lead Coach or Program Coordinator.
- Collaborate with community partners to support participant success.
Documentation & Program Support
- Complete required participant documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain transportation logs, mileage records, and vehicle documentation.
- Follow confidentiality standards, organizational policies, and data collection requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required training.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming recovery support environment.
Vehicle & Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational transportation policies.
- Document incidents, accidents, or safety concerns according to agency procedures.
- Ensure participants' safety during transportation activities.
Physical Requirements·
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
- Ability to assist participants entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate.
- Ability to lift to 25 pounds occasionally.· Ability to travel throughout Coweta and surrounding counties.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of continuous recovery from alcohol and/or other substance use.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no major violations; subject to motor vehicle report review).

- Passion for serving individuals and families impacted by addiction.
- Willingness to complete 40 hours of Recovery Coach training (CARES) within 12 months if not already certified.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with participants, families, partners, and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computers and standard workplace technology, including email, electronic documentation systems, and basic data entry.
- Dependable transportation and proof of insurance if personal vehicle use is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Recovery Coach or Peer Support Specialist.
- Prior peer support, recovery coaching, transportation, or human services experience.
- Familiarity with local recovery resources and community partners.
- Experience working with individuals impacted by substance use and recovery challenges.

Scope of Impact
- Directly supports participant access to recovery services, treatment, and community resources.
- Positively impacts participant engagement, retention, and recovery outcomes.
- Contributes to the quality, reliability, and effectiveness of daily recovery support operations.
Decision-Making Authority
- Makes decisions related to immediate participant support and transportation needs within established organizational guidelines.
- Escalates safety concerns, policy questions, transportation incidents, or complex situations to the Lead Coach or Program Coordinator.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $35,000–$40,000 annually
- Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and funding availability
- Pay is issued biweekly
- Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued from day one and available for use after 90 days
- One paid Self-Care Day per month is available after 30 days of employment

Work Schedule & Environment
- Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with adjustments as needed based on organizational needs.
- Work occurs in recovery support centers, community-based settings, and transportation environments.
- Regular interaction with participants, families, community partners, and service providers.
