Duke Electric Co., Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Procurement Specialist to support the successful delivery of commercial, industrial, institutional, and government electrical construction projects by managing the procurement of materials, equipment, tools, and subcontracted services. The Procurement Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that project teams receive the right products at the right time while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with company policies and project requirements.
Working closely with project managers, estimators, warehouse personnel, vendors, and field supervisors, the Procurement Specialist will oversee the complete purchasing process, from reviewing material requests and obtaining competitive quotations to issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, resolving supplier issues, and maintaining accurate procurement records. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review purchase requests and project material requirements submitted by project managers and field personnel.
- Source electrical materials, low-voltage equipment, tools, safety supplies, and construction-related products from approved suppliers.
- Obtain competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms with vendors.
- Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures.
- Monitor order status from placement through delivery to ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, warehouse staff, and project teams to resolve shipping delays, shortages, or product discrepancies.
- Verify that purchased materials meet project specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, pricing information, and purchasing documentation.
- Track inventory levels and coordinate replenishment of frequently used materials and equipment.
- Assist with supplier evaluations and maintain positive working relationships with vendors.
- Support project managers by providing procurement updates and identifying potential supply chain risks.
- Review invoices and receiving documents to ensure accuracy before payment processing.
- Assist in preparing procurement reports, cost analyses, and purchasing summaries for management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable procurement regulations.
- Collaborate with estimating teams by providing current pricing and supplier information for future bids.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement efficiency and cost savings.
- Maintain confidentiality of pricing, contracts, and vendor agreements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, construction, or electrical industry experience.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing, if required.
Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of supplier contract administration and cost analysis.
- Professional procurement or supply chain certifications are considered an asset.

The Procurement Specialist primarily works in an office environment while maintaining regular communication with warehouses, suppliers, and construction project teams. Occasional visits to job sites and supplier facilities may be required to verify deliveries, inspect materials, or support project coordination. The role requires the ability to adapt to changing project schedules and procurement priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Compensation
Estimated Salary: USD $60,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant industry background. Actual compensation may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and business needs.
