Position Summary
AC Future is seeking a hands-on Telemetry & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain the telemetry and cloud infrastructure powering our connected products.
This role will be responsible for key areas including telemetry services, device connectivity, cloud infrastructure, remote diagnostics, OTA readiness, backend services, and cybersecurity. The position will also support AC Future's internal IT infrastructure, endpoint management, access control, and corporate systems security.
The ideal candidate combines strong cloud and backend engineering capabilities with practical experience in IoT, telematics, connected vehicles, or other connected products. This individual should be comfortable working across product engineering and corporate technology environments and taking projects from architecture and requirements through implementation and deployment.
Key ResponsibilitiesTelemetry & Data Platform
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable telemetry architecture and cloud data pipelines for AC Future's connected products.
- Support telemetry for vehicle and product systems including battery, energy management, power electronics, HVAC, water, security, leveling, expansion systems, and other onboard systems.
- Develop reliable solutions for data ingestion, processing, storage, monitoring, visualization, and analytics.
- Define telemetry data structures, communication protocols, and data management strategies.
- Develop simulation, testing, and diagnostic tools to support engineering and product development.
- Improve system reliability, data quality, performance, and scalability as the connected product fleet grows.
Cloud Infrastructure & Backend Services
- Design, deploy, and manage secure and scalable AWS-based cloud infrastructure.
- Develop backend services, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures supporting connected products and mobile applications.
- Build and maintain messaging and streaming infrastructure using technologies such as MQTT, Kafka, or similar platforms.
- Establish cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, and operational best practices.
- Support infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, and configuration management.
- Monitor cloud performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production infrastructure and backend service issues.
Device Connectivity, Diagnostics & Remote Services
- Enable secure and reliable communication between AC Future products, cloud services, mobile applications, and internal systems.
- Develop and maintain device provisioning, registration, authentication, and lifecycle management capabilities.
- Implement remote command and control functionality for supported vehicle and product systems.
- Develop remote diagnostics, system health monitoring, fault reporting, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Support fleet monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions.
- Work with embedded and hardware engineering teams to integrate vehicle data and cloud services.
- Support communication interfaces involving CAN, CAN FD, J1939, or other vehicle and embedded protocols where applicable.
OTA & Software Deployment
- Support Over-the-Air (OTA) software and firmware update architecture and deployment readiness.
- Develop and maintain software version management, deployment, rollback, and update validation workflows.
- Work with embedded, software, hardware, and mobile teams to ensure reliable and secure OTA processes.
- Help establish processes for staged deployment, testing, monitoring, and recovery.
- Support device software configuration and release management throughout the product lifecycle.
Product & Cloud Cybersecurity
- Implement security best practices across cloud infrastructure, connected devices, backend services, APIs, and communications.
- Manage and support IAM, PKI, certificates, encryption, TLS, secrets, and secure authentication mechanisms.
- Help establish secure device identity, provisioning, and communication architecture.
- Participate in cybersecurity architecture reviews, threat assessments, vulnerability remediation, and security testing.
- Support cybersecurity practices aligned with connected vehicle and IoT industry standards, including ISO 21434 concepts where applicable.
- Assist with incident investigation and remediation involving cloud, product, or connected systems.
- Continuously identify technical and security risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Corporate IT Support & Infrastructure
- Provide hands-on IT support for AC Future employees, including laptops, workstations, software, network connectivity, accounts, and common workplace technology issues.
- Support IT onboarding and offboarding, including computer setup, software installation, account provisioning, access changes, and secure access removal.
- Help administer company computers, endpoint management systems, software deployment, patching, and device configuration.
- Support office networking, Wi-Fi, printers, conference room technology, and other business technology infrastructure as needed.
- Maintain IT asset records and assist with computer and technology inventory management.
- Troubleshoot employee hardware, software, network, and access issues and coordinate with external IT vendors when appropriate.
Corporate Systems & Information Security
- Help implement and maintain secure access to company files, applications, systems, and data.
- Support role-based and department-based access controls to ensure employees have access only to information appropriate to their responsibilities and authorization level.
- Assist with identity and access management, MFA, endpoint protection, device encryption, password and authentication policies, and other corporate security controls.
- Support endpoint monitoring and remote device administration in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with remote device lock, account access revocation, and secure removal of company data when authorized and required.
- Support security patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and security incident response.
- Conduct or support periodic reviews of user accounts, permissions, devices, and system access.
- Maintain documentation for IT systems, security configurations, access controls, and operational procedures.
- Work with HR, management, legal/compliance resources, and external IT/security vendors to support secure and reliable corporate technology operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with software, embedded, hardware, electrical, mobile, product, and international engineering teams.
- Translate product and engineering requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive assigned projects from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Coordinate technical dependencies across teams and identify risks before they impact product development.
- Track technical deliverables, priorities, issues, and project status.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, procedures, and system specifications.
- Evaluate external technologies, platforms, vendors, and tools when needed.
- Support engineering troubleshooting across cloud, vehicle, device, network, and corporate systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in telematics, connected vehicles, IoT, connected products, cloud infrastructure, backend systems, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience designing or supporting cloud-based connected product architectures.
- Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with MQTT, REST APIs, backend development, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Kafka or similar messaging or streaming technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Go, Java, Node.js, or TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, infrastructure, APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Understanding of cloud and application security, including IAM, API security, authentication, encryption, certificates, and TLS.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, troubleshooting, and production system support.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across software, cloud, networking, and connected devices.
- Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of projects from problem definition through implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with connected vehicles, EVs, RVs, automotive systems, mobility products, robotics, industrial IoT, or other complex connected products.
- Experience with AWS IoT or similar IoT cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with CAN, CAN FD, J1939, UDS, vehicle diagnostics, or related automotive communication technologies.
- Experience designing or operating OTA software or firmware update platforms.
- Knowledge of ISO 21434 automotive cybersecurity concepts.
- Experience with PKI, certificate lifecycle management, secure device identity, or device provisioning.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD platforms.
- Experience with endpoint management, MDM, EDR, identity management, or corporate IT security platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Entra ID/Azure AD, or similar enterprise identity and productivity environments.
- Experience implementing role-based access control and secure file/data access policies.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure and cybersecurity in a startup or growing technology company.
- Experience working with geographically distributed or international engineering teams.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will help AC Future establish a secure, scalable, and reliable technology foundation connecting our products, cloud services, applications, and internal systems.
This person will be expected to combine hands-on engineering execution with strong technical ownership—building the telemetry and cloud capabilities required for AC Future's connected products while also helping ensure that the company's internal technology environment, devices, access controls, and information systems remain secure and well managed.
As AC Future grows, this role will play an important part in improving the reliability, security, scalability, and operational maturity of both our connected product platform and corporate technology infrastructure.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
