Full Job Description

About TopVolt

At TopVolt, we are driving the future of renewable energy. As a rapidly growing solar engineering, procurement, and construction firm, we handle complex commercial and utility-scale solar projects.

Because we are expanding rapidly, we are building out an elite corporate operations team. We are seeking an ambitious, hands-on Controller who thrives in high-growth environments, understands the complexities of construction project accounting, and can help build the financial roadmap to scale our operations.

Position Summary

As Controller, you will own the entire accounting function, lead our upcoming ERP system implementation, and establish scalable financial controls across multi-state project sites.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction accounting (WIP schedules, job costing, subcontractor tracking) and a proven track record of migrating a fast-growing company onto an enterprise-grade ERP system (such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct).

Key Responsibilities

ERP Implementation & Systems Scaling

Lead the evaluation, selection, and hands-on migration to a high-capacity ERP system.
Design and implement workflows integrating project management, inventory, equipment tracking, and third-party contractor management with general ledger operations.
Automate manual processes to shorten month-end and year-end close cycles.

Construction & Project Accounting

Manage full-cycle project accounting, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports, job cost tracking, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and AIA progress billings.
Establish tight controls over project profitability, labor allocations, change orders, and sub-contractor cost tracking.
Oversee fixed assets, fleet inventory, and equipment assignment across job sites.

Financial Management & Reporting

Direct all monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with 100% accuracy.
Present clear financial analysis, variance reports, and cash flow forecasts directly to executive leadership to support strategic growth.
Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration mapping, and multi-state tax registrations.

Governance & Compliance

Establish, monitor, and enforce internal financial controls across all departments.
Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal tax filings, construction lien laws, and regulatory requirements.
Act as the primary liaison for external accounting firms, insurance audits, and banking relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
5+ years of progressive accounting leadership (Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager).
Direct experience in construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and sub-contractor financial oversight.
Direct experience participating in or leading an ERP system implementation/migration (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Vista).
Demonstrated ability to build financial systems in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
