Full Job Description

Job Responsibilities

· The Compounding Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant preparation and dispensing of compounded medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Supervise and direct the work of pharmacy technicians to ensure appropriate dispensing and compounding techniques are used in the preparation of high-quality non-sterile and sterile compounds, following the approved Master Formulation Records and Compounding Records.

· Review all prescriptions thoroughly to ensure accuracy and verify that appropriate compounding procedures are followed prior to dispensing.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in accordance with pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

· Perform drug utilization reviews for all prescription orders to ensure safety, appropriateness, and therapeutic effectiveness.

· Provide professional consultation to prescribers and patients regarding drug interactions, potential side effects, dosing, proper use, and storage of compounded medications.

· Meet established deadlines for prescription fulfillment, reports, operational data, billing, and other time-sensitive responsibilities.

· Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.

· Document and report quality-related events through the appropriate reporting systems to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.

· Adhere to all patient confidentiality requirements in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations.

· Maintain compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards, and Johnson Compounding & Wellness Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

· Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate leadership by serving as a positive role model for all staff.

· Complete all Continuing Education (CE) requirements as mandated by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.

· Support overall pharmacy operations by assisting other departments and performing additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge.

Minimum Qualifications

· Accredited Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.

· Active pharmacist license in the state of Massachusetts.

· Minimum 2 years experience

· Compounding pharmacy experience preferred.

Required Abilities

· Strong punctuality and reliability.

· Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 10 hours.

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical publications, financial reports, and regulatory documents.

· Strong mathematical and analytical skills relevant to pharmaceutical calculations and compounding.

· Proficiency with pharmacy systems including order processing, inventory management, and database software.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

Salary is negotiable and will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
