Right Now Powder Coating — Collins, Iowa
Full-time | In person | Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
$20–$24 per hour
We’re looking for a creative, energetic person who can turn a working powder-coating shop into content people actually want to watch.
This is not a sit-at-a-desk-all-day marketing job. You’ll be walking through the shop, filming projects, joking with the crew, following trends, editing videos, taking photos, writing posts and finding interesting stories in the work happening around you.
You’ll create content for both Right Now Powder Coating, an active production shop, and Powder Finishing Equipment, our equipment sales brand.
We don’t care whether you have a marketing degree or years of professional social media experience. We care whether you’re creative, dependable, comfortable on camera and able to consistently turn ideas into finished content.
What You’ll Do
- Create, film, edit and publish short-form content for Facebook, Instagram and YouTube Shorts.
- Produce approximately 2–4 short-form posts per day.
- Help create two long-form YouTube videos per month, owning the process from idea through filming, editing, thumbnail, title, description and publishing.
- Create approximately 1–2 professional LinkedIn posts per day for RNPC, PFE and the company owner.
- Follow current trends and adapt them to powder coating, equipment, manufacturing, cars, tools and blue-collar shop life.
- Appear on camera in fun, trend-based and personality-driven videos.
- Film the owner and shop employees for educational, entertaining and behind-the-scenes content.
- Take high-quality photos of completed parts, equipment and shop projects.
- Write clear captions with correct spelling and professional language.
- Reply to general comments and messages.
- Route technical questions to the owner when needed.
- Identify serious customer interest, collect contact information and maintain a simple lead log.
- Keep raw footage, photos and completed content labeled, backed up and easy to find.
- Maintain a shared content library so footage can be reused on other platforms.
- Stage and clean parts, vehicles, equipment and work areas when needed for filming.
- Assist with basic website updates, graphics, email marketing and product listings when core content work is caught up.
- Help the team with basic shared responsibilities such as trash, common-area cleanup and keeping the workplace organized.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a good fit if you:
- Are naturally creative, funny and comfortable talking to people.
- Enjoy cars, welding, fabrication, powder coating, tools, manufacturing or other blue-collar industries.
- Can spot an interesting moment and start filming without needing someone to assign every idea.
- Are comfortable being on camera and participating in trends.
- Already know basic video editing, even if most of your experience has been editing on your phone.
- Can add captions, music, text, cuts and transitions to create clean, engaging videos.
- Are willing to learn our computer-based editing programs and equipment.
- Can balance a fun personality with reliability and organization.
- Ask questions when something is technical, sensitive or unclear.
- Can accept feedback without becoming defensive.
- Follow through and finish content instead of spending all day planning it.
- Are willing to learn how our shop and equipment actually work.
Professional social media experience is helpful, but it is not required. Personality, creativity, effort and follow-through matter more to us than formal credentials.
This Role Is Not a Fit If You
- Have unreliable attendance.
- Do not want to appear on camera.
- Prefer staying at a desk instead of engaging with the shop.
- Have a consistently negative attitude or complain about normal job responsibilities.
- Are unwilling to help with basic team cleanup.
- Need every post idea handed to you.
- Lose interest and walk away when filming takes longer than expected.
- Repeatedly post the same type of content without bringing new ideas.
Work Environment
This is a working industrial shop, not a climate-controlled corporate office.
You must be able to:
- Stand and walk throughout the shop for much of the day.
- Use stairs and occasionally use ladders.
- Occasionally lift approximately 25–40 pounds.
- Work around shop noise, dust, production equipment, heat and cold.
- Safely wear closed-toe shoes and required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection or a respirator when needed.
- Handle very hot shop conditions during the summer. Areas near the ovens can become extremely hot.
Schedule and Travel
The normal schedule is:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The workday includes a paid 30-minute lunch.
Occasional evening work, customer visits, trade shows, equipment installations, special events, travel and overnight stays may be required. Approved transportation, mileage, hotel, meals and paid travel time will be covered by the company.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Pay and Benefits
- $20–$22 per hour, based on experience and ability.
- $50 weekly healthcare allowance.
- Five paid vacation days during the first year.
- Ten paid vacation days beginning in the second year.
- Paid holidays.
- Company filming, editing and production equipment provided.
- Performance bonus opportunities may be available based on company results and individual performance.
First 30 Days
The first 30 days will be a trial and training period.
During the first four weeks, you’ll work closely with the owner to learn the brands, shop, equipment and expectations. After training, you should be able to create and publish content independently while asking questions when needed.
Your 30-day review will consider:
- Attendance and reliability
- Attitude and teamwork
- Creativity
- Energy and engagement
- Camera confidence
- Editing ability
- Content output
- Writing quality
- Organization
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to take ownership
- Overall fit with the team
