About JBM Technologies
JBM Technologies is a leading provider of CNC machine tools, automation, robotics, and engineered manufacturing solutions. We partner with manufacturers to improve productivity, efficiency, and performance by providing high-quality equipment backed by knowledgeable sales, applications, and service support.
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machine Tool Service Technician to join our growing Service Team.
Important: This Is a Manufacturing Field Service Position
This is NOT an IT, computer repair, help desk, or general technical support position.
The successful candidate will work directly with CNC machine tools and industrial manufacturing equipment at customer facilities. This position requires hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
Candidates should have experience working with CNC machinery, industrial machinery, heavy equipment, machine tools, manufacturing equipment, industrial electrical systems, or closely related equipment.
Position Summary
The CNC Machine Tool Service Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machine tools at customer facilities.
This is a hands-on field service position requiring strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. The technician will work with CNC controls, PLCs, servo systems, drives, sensors, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and other machine-tool components.
The ideal candidate is mechanically and electrically inclined, enjoys solving complex problems, can read electrical and mechanical schematics, and is comfortable working independently at customer facilities.
Customer service is also an important part of the position. Our Service Technicians represent JBM directly in the field and are expected to communicate professionally with customers while working efficiently to diagnose and resolve machine problems.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Machine Installation & Commissioning
- Install, assemble, level, align, and commission CNC machine tools at customer facilities.
- Assist with machine setup, electrical connections, plumbing, accessories, options, and peripheral equipment.
- Verify machine operation, accuracy, safety systems, and functionality during installation and startup.
- Troubleshoot installation and commissioning issues and coordinate with machine manufacturers when necessary.
- Perform machine geometry checks and adjustments using appropriate precision measurement equipment.
- Support installation and commissioning of machine options, automation, bar feeders, coolant systems, chip conveyors, probing systems, and other accessories.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and repair CNC machine problems involving:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Lubrication systems
- Sensors and switches
- Motors and servo systems
- Drives and amplifiers
- Encoders
- PLCs
- CNC controls
- Machine safety circuits
- Troubleshoot CNC control and machine alarms to determine the root cause of failures.
- Use electrical schematics, ladder logic, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, mechanical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
- Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting using meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Replace and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
- Make machine adjustments and calibrations to restore machine performance and accuracy.
- Communicate with machine-tool manufacturers and JBM's internal team when advanced technical support is required.
Preventive Maintenance & Machine Accuracy
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on CNC machine tools.
- Inspect and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and coolant systems.
- Replace machine fluids, filters, hoses, sensors, switches, and other wear components as required.
- Inspect machine geometry and alignment.
- Identify potential problems before they result in machine downtime.
- Recommend repairs, replacement parts, and maintenance procedures to customers.
Customer Support
- Provide professional, knowledgeable service to customers at their manufacturing facilities.
- Explain machine problems, repairs, and recommended maintenance to customers.
- Provide customers with guidance on proper machine operation and maintenance.
- Respond to customer service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate clearly with customers, JBM's Service Team, Sales Team, Applications Engineers, and machine manufacturers.
- Complete detailed service reports documenting troubleshooting, repairs, parts used, machine condition, and recommended follow-up work.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, installing, or troubleshooting CNC machinery, machine tools, industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, or closely related industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic diagrams.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components.
- Familiarity with PLCs, CNC controls, sensors, motors, drives, relays, contactors, and control circuits.
- Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, ohmmeters, and other test instruments.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment and understand basic machine geometry and alignment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment systematically and identify root causes rather than simply replacing components.
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional customer-service skills.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer facilities.
- Ability to work overnight and extended service assignments when required.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is highly desirable:
- Previous experience as a CNC Service Technician, Machine Tool Service Technician, Field Service Technician, Maintenance Technician, Controls Technician, Industrial Electrician, or Industrial Maintenance Technician.
- Direct experience servicing CNC machine tools.
- Experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or other CNC controls.
- Technical school, trade school, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance education.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys figuring out why a machine isn't working and knowing how to fix it.
The ideal technician is comfortable getting their hands dirty, working around industrial machinery, reading a schematic, troubleshooting an electrical circuit, checking a sensor, diagnosing a hydraulic issue, and systematically working toward the root cause of a machine failure.
You should be comfortable working independently at a customer's manufacturing facility and making decisions about how to safely and efficiently diagnose a problem.
A successful JBM Service Technician is:
- Mechanically and electrically minded.
- A strong troubleshooter.
- Comfortable working with industrial machinery.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Able to communicate technical information clearly.

The technician will regularly work in manufacturing environments and around CNC machine tools and industrial equipment.
The position may require:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching.
- Working inside or around CNC machine enclosures and confined machine spaces.
- Working around metal chips, cutting fluids, coolants, lubricants, and industrial equipment.
- Working around electrical systems, including high-voltage equipment.
- Handling tools, components, and machine accessories.
- Lifting and moving equipment and components as required.
- Working in manufacturing facilities with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Appropriate safety equipment and procedures must be followed at all customer facilities.
Travel Requirements
This position requires frequent travel to customer manufacturing facilities.
Travel may include:
- Local and regional customer service calls.
- Multi-day machine installations.
- Manufacturer training.
- Customer training.
- Trade shows and industry events.
- Emergency or extended service assignments.
Overnight travel is required as needed, particularly for machine installations, extended service assignments, and manufacturer training.
Candidates must be comfortable spending time traveling and working at customer facilities.
