POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for setting up and operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut and shape metallic workpieces. Manual machining also required for some projects.
This position is for 2nd shift (3p-11p)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary depending on machine assignment)

Operate CNC machines (Okuma and Haas machines—“G” code) used to cut and shape precision workpieces used in the manufacture of heat transfer products from solid blocks of metal.

Read and interpret blueprints and/or job orders to determine product specifications, tooling instructions, and sequence of operations.

Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC machines.

Control position of tool and workpiece in relation to each other and set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. Make adjustments as necessary.

Set-up fixture or feeding device, start machine, feed tool to workpiece, and engages feed.

Direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and workpiece.

Visually and audibly observe operation of CNC machine to verify conformance of machined workpiece to blueprint and/or job order specifications and to detect sounds, such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration. Correct identified production problems as necessary.

Operate various small equipment to complete workpieces.

Assist and train CNC Machinists in machine set up procedures.

Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation of CNC machines.

Inspect all finished product to confirm meets blueprint and/or job order specifications.

Complete all required paperwork.

Perform minor machine maintenance as required or directed.

Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.

Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures.

Make recommendations to implement improved processes.

Provide feedback to management concerning possible problem or areas of improvement.

Participate in cross training throughout manufacturing facility. Dependent upon company need, may be posted in alternate work assignment.

Qualifications:
-
High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred.

5 years minimum of related experience preferred.

Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.

Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints.

Ability to set-up and operate CNC Mills. Programming skills preferred.

Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail.

Manual machining experience preferred

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence.

Basic mathematical skills required.

Ability to be cross trained throughout manufacturing facility.

Ability to work in a team fostered environment.
