Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include:

Review and maintain database for tracking fatality and near fatality assessments.
Provide thorough and precise feedback to stakeholders for all needed corrections to each fatality and near fatality assessment.
Discuss fatality assessments that are controversial or substantiated with executive staff to ensure compliance with state statutes and policy as well as ensuring that fatality and near fatality findings are consistent throughout the State.
Ensure Case Report Forms for each assessment are accurately entered into the National Center for the Review and Prevention of Child Deaths’ Case Reporting System.
Evaluate fatality and near fatality intakes and screen outs to determine whether decisions and actions taken follow division guidelines and policies, state and federal requirements.
Collaborate to ensure fatality data is accurate for the annual fatality report.
Respond to both internal and external inquiries regarding fatalities.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Broad knowledge of federal, state and local legislation, policies rules and regulations related to child welfare, child development, social work, and/or social services programs.
Thorough knowledge of diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
Specialized knowledge of principles and practices of social work, casework, group and individual counseling and sociology including new methods and theories.
Specialized knowledge of computers, the operations of software programs, and computerized eligibility and tracking systems.
Specialized knowledge of public and private community resources.
Specialized knowledge of risk and safety assessment tools and the principles of a structured decision-making process to reduce risk to children.
Working knowledge of legal practices and civil court proceedings.
Excellent research and writing skills for purposes of evaluating and reporting services.
Ability to exercise sound judgment while managing crisis and highly critical situations.
Ability to analyze complex and varied situations and negotiate resolutions to complex problems or situations.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
