Job Title: Financial Controller – DOGPerfect & DOGPerfect Franchising

Location: Lakewood Ranch Florida
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
Employment Type: Full-Time

DOGPerfect is a fast-growing, premium dog retail and wellness brand focused on delivering exceptional products and experiences for pet owners. Alongside our corporate operations, DOGPerfect Franchising is expanding nationally, supporting franchise partners with strong operational, financial, and brand systems.

We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to manage both the day-to-day accounting operations and overall financial strategy across our corporate and franchising businesses.

Position Overview

This is a strategic, highly operational, and hands-on Controller position—not solely an oversight or delegation role. The Financial Controller will oversee financial performance while personally managing and executing core accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and AP/AR activities. The successful candidate must have demonstrated Controller-level experience overseeing the complete accounting cycle, within a multi-location retail, franchising, or similarly fast-paced organization, and will play a key role in building scalable financial processes, ensuring accuracy, and providing leadership with actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

Manage daily accounting functions including AP/AR, general ledger, and reconciliations
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Ensure proper coding of transactions and adherence to accounting policies

Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Deliver timely and accurate reporting to leadership
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through financial analysis

Franchise Financial Oversight

Monitor franchisee financial performance and royalty reporting
Build and maintain reporting tools to track franchise KPIs
Support franchisees with financial guidance and best practices

Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
Provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations
Support strategic planning and growth initiatives

Systems & Process Improvement

Improve accounting workflows and financial reporting processes
Implement automation and scalable systems where appropriate
Partner with operations to align financial and business metrics

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
A minimum of five years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including direct Controller-level responsibility for daily accounting operations, month-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
Experience in retail, franchising, or a multi-unit environment
Proven experience handling both day-to-day accounting and financial oversight
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.)
