Immediate opening for a Bilingual Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our growing national immigration practice. Salary, dependent upon experience, is $24.00-$32.00/hour + benefits/bonus. FOREIGN CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AND NEED NOT REPLY. We have openings in both our Suffolk and Nassau Offices.

We are a 15-attorney, immigration-only law firm which is driven by our mission to help the predominantly Central American communities we serve. We accomplish this by providing competent, honest and reasonably-priced services in an effort to assist our clients in procuring or enhancing immigration benefits, avoiding negative enforcement consequences, helping reunite families and applying for difficult humanitarian relief such as Asylum in order to avoid persecution in home countries. FOREIGN CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AND NEED NOT REPLY.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Paralegal position. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, lawful work authorization in the U.S., and fluency in both Spanish and English. Experience in Immigration Law is not required, but preferred. The successful candidate would have a strong motivation for public service, specifically to help members of the Latino community better their stations in the United States. There is opportunity for significant upward mobility with our growing firm, but for the first 12 months, any candidate should not expect any change in work/compensation status. This job is open for immediate hire. FOREIGN CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AND NEED NOT REPLY.

Responsibilities of the job include: fielding a heavy volume of client inquiries, via phone and in person, and escalating appropriately to the Attorney; maintaining the firm calendar and providing scheduling updates to attorneys and clients; providing translation and interpretation from Spanish to English and vice versa; executing forms for immigration relief such as Asylum, Cancellation of Removal and other country-specific humanitarian benefits; drafting affidavits, personal statements and hardship memoranda in support of the afore-mentioned relief applications; etc.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for protecting the rights of immigrants in the United States, and a deep interest in making a long-term commitment to our well-respected and rapidly growing practice. Applicants residing outside of the United States will not be considered.
