ASSOCIATE / YOUTH PASTOR
This position combines Student Ministry (6th -12th grade) leadership with Associate
Pastor duties. The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor to share
the shepherding responsibilities for the whole congregation and in pastoral care. The
Associate Pastor will also assist the Senior Pastor in oversight of the general
administration of the church including areas of weekend services, facility management,
social media and small groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Solid Biblical Beliefs & Practices: A Bible-believing, God fearing man who has
integrity, honesty and is hard-working. He should support and whole heartily
agree with the Constitution & Bylaws, Statement of Faith and membership
covenants of SonRise. He should possess the spiritual gifts of Shepherding
and Teaching as well as meet the requirements listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and
Titus 1:7-9. He should set the standard of daily prayer, Bible study, giving and
serving.
2. Strong Biblical Knowledge: Deep understanding of scripture and the ability to
interpret and apply it to contemporary life.
3. Exemplary Leadership: Effective verbal & written communication, conflict
resolution and team building skills as well as the ability to relate to, motivate
and inspire others.
4. Public Speaking Skills: Engaging preaching and teaching style with the ability
to connect with diverse audiences.
5. Pastoral Care Skills: Active listening, empathy, and ability to provide
compassionate spiritual guidance.
6. Organizational Skills: Oversee the administration and management of church
operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and personnel
management.
7. Educational Requirements: Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and
preferred to have completed a Master’s program through a Seminary that has
been accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of
Theological Schools.
8. Additional Desired Qualifications: computer savvy, lifelong learner, self-
starting attitude that identifies and implements what needs to be done, high
energy, gifted communicator – both written and oral, humble and teachable
spirit, open to feedback & evaluation, team building and conflict resolution
skills, prefer at least 3 years of a proven track record of student ministry
experience and success.
9. Must pass a criminal background check.
REPORTS TO – Senior Pastor
GENERAL DUTIES
1. Student Ministry Leadership
a. Create a well-balanced program (spiritually, mentally, emotionally &
socially) for the Youth Group (6 th – 12 th grade) that should include
lessons, games and activities.
a. Build and mentor a strong semester-based volunteer team and support
them through ongoing training (at least 2x per year)
a. Provide individualized care and mentoring to middle & high school
students and their families.
a. Communicate regularly with the parents of students and updates them
on child’s involvement in the youth group,
2. Associate Pastor Duties
a. Collaborate with Senior Pastor in preaching, sermon / service planning
and execution, conducting services, guest follow up and leading a
small group.
a. Oversee the assimilation and new member processes within the
church. They will be responsible for identifying guests, following up
with those guests during the week and assimilating members into
various church ministries. They will supervise the new member
process, spiritual gifts assessment and member’s active participation
in the church.
a. Actively participate in pastoral mentorship with the Senior Pastor. He
will assist the Senior Pastor in the general administration of the church
including communications, facility maintenance and outreach.
a. Assist in Small Group development and expansion which will include
leader recruitment and training
a. Participate and / or conduct special services (baptisms, dedications,
new member classes, weddings and funerals), as needed.
a. Generate regular ministry reports and metrics for leadership review at
monthly Board Meetings, weekly staff meetings, and Congregational
meetings.
a. Be able to lead meetings, weekend services and provide church
leadership in the event of the Senior Pastor’s absence.
a. Serve as the “point person” for all matters related to worship and
technology, including questions, suggestions, concerns, and interest
with our youth and small group ministries.
a. Maintain expertise in church software programs (Church Teams,
Realm, Pro Presenter, etc.) as well as sound & video equipment and
procedures.
a. Maintain church website by updating weekly with sermons and other
changes as needed.
a. Maintain church social media accounts and strive to create an
engaging and active online presence.
a. Select worship songs, transition videos, motion backgrounds each
week in ProPresenter. These should strive to compliment that week’s
sermon or theme.
a. Must be willing to accept any & all additional duties requested by the
Senior Pastor.
a. In charge of the Building Maintenance.
a. Oversee’s Church Work Day. Organizes projects, ensures supplies are
purchased/supplied, and delegates projects to volunteers.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
