How You’ll Help Fulfill the HSHM Mission
The Grants Coordinator role serves a critical role in helping HSHM to achieve financial resilience. The Grants Coordinator identifies funding opportunities and prepares competitive proposals under the direction of the Director of Development. This position is responsible for researching, developing, writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals and reports that secures funding for Home Sweet Home Ministries’ initiatives from foundations, government agencies, and corporations. The Grants Coordinator works closely with the Director of Development and other program staff to develop compelling, data-driven proposals, working closely with finance and program leadership to develop budgets and ensure proposals align with Home Sweet Home’s mission.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Prospecting (30%)
Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities at the local, state, and federal levels that support Home Sweet Home’s mission and core values.
Collaborate with senior leadership to leverage their engagement with top prospects.
Maintain and document a pipeline of prospective funding opportunities.
Proposal Development and Writing (40%)
Collaborate with program staff, finance, and leadership to gather information, data, and budget details.
Draft, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), grant applications, and reports.
Manage multiple deadlines and proposals simultaneously.
Collect program outcomes, performance data, and success stories from program staff for inclusion in proposals and reports.
Compliance & Reporting (30%)
Track grant submissions and write reports to grantors detailing how funds were utilized and adhering to grantor requirements.
Track grant implementation milestones and coordinate with the accounting staff and program managers to ensure financial and program reporting requirements are met.
Maintain a master calendar of grants, deadlines, and compliance reporting.
Maintain complete grant files and supporting documentation for grant applications, award agreements, correspondence, and required reports.
Assist in communicating grant requirements and reporting deadlines to program staff.
Maintain accurate grant records within the donor management system, including proposal status, award information, reporting deadlines, and funder communications.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
1-2 years of experience in grant writing or grant management, preferred.
Proficiency in grant databases and CRM software.
Ability to craft persuasive narratives.
Proficiency in finding funding opportunities through data and research.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Understanding of basic program budgeting and financial reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint) and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
