HR Specialist

Location: Bloomington, IL
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Join a local corporate organization as an HR Specialist!

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HR Specialist to join a local corporate team in Bloomington, IL. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for supporting a variety of human resources functions to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations, maintain compliance, and create a positive employee experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong administrative and HR background, excellent communication skills, and experience supporting areas such as recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and HR systems.

Key Responsibilities

Support talent acquisition efforts, including sourcing candidates through ATS platforms such as iCIMS, Taleo, or Workday, and coordinating interviews
PAYROLL experience
Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the organization
Maintain accurate employee data and records in HRIS systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, UltiPro, or Workday
Coordinate performance management processes, employee evaluations, and performance improvement support
Administer and track employee benefits documentation while ensuring compliance with regulations such as FMLA, OSHA, and workers’ compensation
Assist with employee relations matters, helping support conflict resolution and positive communication across teams
Support workforce planning initiatives, including organization design, succession planning, sourcing strategy, and affirmative action efforts
Coordinate training and development programs, including scheduling sessions and tracking participation
Assist with contract management, payroll support, and HR reporting/analytics
Collect and organize HR-related data through systems such as Salesforce, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, or Dayforce
Help ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, labor regulations, and internal HR policies

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of administrative support experience
Minimum 2 years of human resources experience
Exposure to payroll processing required
1+ year of payroll experience preferred
Experience working within a corporate HR environment
Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, or UltiPro
Knowledge of employment law, FMLA, OSHA, and workers’ compensation processes
Experience with benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, and performance management
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and data entry/recordkeeping skills
Experience with ATS platforms such as iCIMS or Taleo preferred

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications are a plus:

SHRM
HRCI
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
