Full Job Description

Basic Job Description:

The Accountant is responsible for all general ledger activities, this role will also reconcile/review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll journals. Additional duties will include generating financial reports, maintaining fixed asset sub-ledgers, and participating in an annual independent audit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare monthly financial statements, utilizing information from current platforms.
Set up and maintain financial data on computer systems for all functions of budgeting, fixed assets, costing, and general ledger.
Balance all subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger monthly; closes out annual general ledger and opens new year.
Perform monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts.
Store and archive all financial data, building easily searchable system.
Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger, records appropriate depreciation and oversee physical inventory.
Participate in AR and collections efforts.
Facilitate audits of financial information, prepares audit schedules as required.
Communicate with staff as required regarding financial issues.
Attend staff meetings to learn policies, rules, regulations, and procedures surrounding our work.
Remain familiar and compliant with all company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent of education and experience.
5+ years public accounting experience or non-profit/government accounting experience required.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
Proficient in English (oral and written); active listener with excellent communication skills.
Strong attention to details, analytical and organizational skills.
Operate in highly stressful situations from both internal and external sources, adapting and making decisions as needed.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting, complying with state and local financial requirements.
Ability to multi-task, interpreting on-going problems and suggesting possible solutions.
