Full Job Description

Purpose of Position

Performs Gas Chromatography (GC) to analyze human breath samples for diagnostic purposes
Continuous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) adherence

Description of Position

The Laboratory Technician must have prior laboratory experience and the ability to complete lab-related tasks both independently and with others while having proficient communication skills. This person should be familiar with federal, state, and international laboratory regulations and compliance measures. This individual should be highly organized with the ability to be self-motivated in time-management and multi-tasking skills. This individual should have a consistency in completing assigned objectives to meet deadlines given by the laboratory management team pertaining to the his/her responsibilities and duties.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in either biochemistry, chemistry, or a life science related field
1+ year(s) of academic laboratory experience
Gas Chromatography (GC) and/or ELISA experience is a plus
Previous diagnostic laboratory experience in a related methodology is preferred
Strong organizational, observational, and time-management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to coordinate objectives individually or with a team
Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and LIM system

Responsibilities and Duties

Preparing and documenting sample sequencing for instrument testing
Analyzing diagnostic samples via Gas Chromatography (GC) techniques
Reviewing and approving diagnostic results
Reviewing and approving that QC standards are within an acceptable range
Performing data entry and result input
Monitoring volumes and preparing inventory orders of laboratory reagents and supplies
Performing and documenting incoming inspection of received laboratory reagents and supplies
Initiating and documenting nonconformance reports
Performing and reviewing QC lot testing on reagents
Performing and reviewing QA/QC tasks
Performing and documenting major troubleshooting and maintenance of all instrumentation
Performing minor repairs on all instrumentation
Adhering to standard Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and laboratory safety procedures
Adhering to Federal, State, and International laboratory guidelines
Preparing for Federal, State, and International laboratory inspections
Performing standard sterility/cleaning practices
