About Us

Miami Beach Center for Ophthalmology, P.A. is an established ophthalmology practice focused on providing high-quality patient care in a professional, organized, and welcoming environment.

We are a small team, which means every team member plays an important role in keeping the practice running smoothly. We value reliability, accountability, communication, and employees who take ownership of their responsibilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Medical Receptionist / Front Desk Coordinator to manage the day-to-day responsibilities of our front desk.

This is a key position within our practice and the primary point of contact for our patients. The ideal candidate is organized, punctual, comfortable communicating with patients, able to follow established office procedures, and capable of managing front-desk responsibilities independently once trained.

Because we operate with a small team, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Prior medical front-desk experience is required. Ophthalmology experience and bilingual English/Spanish skills are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet and check patients in and out professionally and efficiently
Answer and manage incoming telephone calls
Monitor and return voicemail messages promptly
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
Review upcoming appointments and identify outstanding patient balances
Communicate outstanding balances and payment expectations to patients prior to appointments
Collect copayments, deductibles, outstanding balances, and other patient payments
Accurately process and document payments
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information
Manage daily physician schedules and communicate scheduling concerns
Scan and appropriately manage incoming patient documentation
Maintain accurate electronic medical records
Follow established front-desk workflows and office policies consistently
Escalate patient concerns or payment issues appropriately when management assistance is required
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, pharmacies, insurance companies, and other healthcare offices
Assist with other reasonable front-office administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of recent medical front-desk/reception experience
Reliable transportation and a strong attendance record
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to follow established procedures and retain training
Comfortable discussing patient balances and collecting payments
Professional telephone and in-person communication skills
Ability to remain composed and professional when dealing with difficult or frustrated patients
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently after training
Intermediate computer proficiency and experience working with electronic medical records
Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
Must successfully complete a background check

Strongly Preferred:

Fluent or professionally proficient in English and Spanish
Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience
Experience with CareCloud or a similar EHR/practice-management system
Experience verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
Familiarity with Medicare and major commercial insurance plans
Experience using Availity or similar insurance portals

We are looking for someone interested in becoming a reliable, long-term member of our practice, not simply filling a temporary position.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday

Candidates should be available and prepared to begin work at their scheduled start time. Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
