Full Job Description

Legacy Metal Services is a growing metal fabrication company dedicated to quality work and customer satisfaction. We take pride in delivering custom fabricated parts while also creating a workplace where employees are valued and supported.

We are currently seeking a motivated, hard-working and dependable Welder-Fitter to join our team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for welding using MIG and TIG on all metals including carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
Safely set up and operate welding machines and other shop equipment.
Expertly welds small, medium, and large various metals.
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
Welds components in flat or vertical positions.
Check parts to ensure they are meeting the company’s standards before moving to the next department.
Follow company, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes wearing proper protective equipment and keeping work area clean and well-organized.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
Ability to efficiently decipher blueprints, weld, and cleanup spatter and rough edges.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Work with hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, standing for hours at a time.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Strong analytical skills to monitor work processes, inspect various types of metal, read and interpret blueprints that contain precise measurements, and to make calculations necessary to cut metal to match specific designs.
Excellent communication skills to work in a collaborative environment with other team members.
Strong measuring skills working with multiple measuring tools to make precise measurements using metric and US measuring systems.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred minimum of 2 to 5-year related experience.
Preferred trade school, certifications, or relevant training.
Ability to become certified in welding.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 60 pounds regularly.
Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
Sit, stand, and walk for 1-10 hours per day.
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Work in a fast-paced environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.

Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
