The Talent Acquisition Consultant – Public Safety serves as a strategic recruiter and relationship-builder dedicated to supporting the College’s expansion into public safety through the development of its police force, Public Safety Training Center, and associated instructional programs. This role plays a critical part in building the workforce that will power a first-in-class training environment—one designed to serve law enforcement, fire, EMS, and multi-agency partners across the region.
This Consultant approaches recruiting as both a service and a strategy—creating meaningful candidate experiences while proactively building pipelines of highly qualified public safety professionals. Through intentional outreach and strong partnerships with local, regional, and state agencies, this role develops sustainable talent pipelines for sworn officers, civilian staff, and specialized instructors.
This position requires a highly consultative approach, including the execution of strategic intake and workforce planning meetings with public safety leadership to anticipate hiring needs tied to facility development timelines, training demand, and operational readiness. By aligning recruitment strategies to the phased staffing model of the Public Safety Training Center, this role ensures the College is positioned to attract and retain top-tier public safety talent in a competitive market.

The Talent Acquisition Consultant will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the hiring process, providing strategic recruitment guidance, ensuring compliance with employment practices, and delivering an exceptional experience with all they interact.

Candidate & Customer Experience
- Deliver a high-touch, hospitality-driven candidate experience for all public safety applicants, ensuring timely communication, transparency, and professionalism.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for candidates pursuing careers in law enforcement, training, and public safety instruction.
- Provide personalized guidance to candidates navigating the application and credentialing process, including certifications, licensure, and required documentation.
- Build trust with candidates through proactive engagement, anticipating needs and creating a seamless, supportive hiring experience.
Public Safety Recruitment Strategy & Pipeline Development
- Lead full lifecycle recruiting efforts for public safety roles, including sworn police officers, training center staff, and public safety instructors.
- Develop and execute targeted recruitment strategies aligned to the phased staffing needs of the Public Safety Training Center.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS organizations, and regional training academies to create sustainable talent pipelines.
- Actively source candidates through networking, outreach, and participation in public safety events, academies, and professional associations.
- Identify and engage experienced public safety professionals as potential instructors and adjunct faculty to support training programs.
- Partner with leadership to forecast hiring needs based on facility growth, training demand, and operational timelines.
Recruitment Operations & Systems Support
- Manage job requisitions, postings, and candidate workflows within the applicant tracking system (NEOED), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics specific to public safety hiring to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
- Support hiring managers through the recruitment lifecycle, including intake meetings, candidate evaluation, and offer processes.
- Ensure all candidate data and documentation are maintained with integrity across ATS and HRIS systems.
- Assist with credentialing coordination for public safety hires, ensuring alignment with regulatory and institutional requirements.
Onboarding & Compliance
- Facilitate onboarding processes for public safety hires, including background checks, I-9 verification, and credential validation.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional hiring regulations, particularly those specific to law enforcement and public safety roles.
- Partner with HR and public safety leadership to ensure hires meet all required certifications, training, and licensure standards.
- Maintain onboarding trackers and ensure timely completion of all pre-employment requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Representation
- Serve as a strategic partner to Public Safety leadership, including training center directors and program managers, to align recruitment efforts with operational needs.
- Lead consultative intake meetings to understand hiring priorities, workforce planning needs, and role requirements.
- Represent the College at public safety recruiting events, academies, and community engagements to promote career opportunities.
Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Credentialing teams to ensure a seamless hiring and onboarding experience.- Build credibility and trust with external agencies to position the College as a premier employer and training partner in public safety.
Administrative Excellence
- Manage high-volume communication channels, including shared inboxes and candidate inquiries, with accuracy and professionalism.
- Maintain detailed records of candidate pipelines, outreach efforts, and hiring progress.
- Support reporting needs related to public safety hiring metrics, workforce trends, and recruitment effectiveness.
- Assist with scheduling interviews, coordinating hiring events, and supporting recruitment logistics.
